NAME THE "TREE" BABIES RAFFLE!

Small Norman Gormans Guinea Pig Sanctuary on the Devon/Cornwall border are bracing themselves for the arrival of a real shower of babies any day now after all four sows that the sanctuary has taken in some weeks ago have unfortunately turned out to be pregnant. This means quadruple or more piggies to care and find homes for in the short to medium turn!

To take part in the baby name raffle, suggest a TREE RELATED name for the baby raffle!
Each lot (i.e. each entered name) is £1.
For £3 or £5, you can either enter three resp. five different names or you can up the chances of success for a favourite name by buying the respective number of lots with the same name!

We are going to update you as soon as each litter is born and will post regular pictures of the babies while in rescue.

Wouldn’t it be lovely to have a special baby that bears your chosen name and know that you are helping it and its mum during its first weeks of life? :)

Norman Gorman rescue has promised lots of pictures of the babies with their new names when they arrive! :tu:

Sadly, there are more and more unwanted and discarded piggies with every passing year and a growing number of sows turn out to be pregnant... For a small rescue, it makes a big difference if they take in 4 and end up with a dozen or a score instead!
 
More and more? That breaks the heart. It's so sad for any to be discarded, awful that it's on the increase. :(

When I joined this forum, rescues had busy times just after Christmas, Easter and the summer holidays, but also quiet times, and they would come across a large neglect/hoarder rescue action perhaps once in a decade or in five years.
Now they have got waiting lists for guinea pigs that are not at immediate risk because they are full to bursting all the time and there are several multi-rescue actions every year to prevent single rescues from going under. :(

The number of dumped older piggies is also steadily rising - and those are very difficult to rehome unless is via dating with bereaved guinea pigs, provided that they don't have any untreated underlying issues.

It is so important to help keep those few rescues that we have going in the face of a growing tide of discarded pets... It is one of the silent tragedies with few champions of our days.
 
I knew it was bad, didn't realise just how bad the situation was!
I thought my eyes were open to the issue, but now I realise they were not open enough! x
 
My gosh, I didn't knew it was that bad neither. People really needs to be educated about it and they have to learn and see that animals do suffer and also have emotions... :(
 
I wish I could adopt 5 of them as I have 1 space left in my 6ft hutch and another spare 6ft hutch :( why dad why won't you let me adopt more pets :(

By the way, these are about as far from Yorkshire as possible...

I have tried talking to my dad about adopting more guinea pigs and told him about tees valley guinea pig rescue and he just says I already have enough :(
