I thought it would be nice to leave a tribute to Ronnie my hamster, even though it has been 5 years now since he passed theres not a day that goes by that I dont remember him and miss him,
He was such a brave hamster with a sad story
a little pink eyed albino
I got him for my 16th birthday, I actually asked for a rat (didnt think id get anything really) but my mum surprised me with a cage and took me to a small pet shop that only had 2 hamsters and ronnie came up to me and that was it.
Love at first sight! he never attacked me or minded being held n cuddled, even use to sit on my shoulder! he only bite me once n that was only because he'd got himself stuck in a silly little window of a plastic hamster house and he was paniced i had to push his head back out lol bless him, lucky i was there!
but after just about a year he started getting fatter and a funny shape and it was obvious something was seriously wrong when his skin was turning black.
we took his to the vet and they said he had a tumor and nothing could be done except look after him untill a time he was in pain etc
so he bravely lived on much longer then they said for another year in fact the tumor kept growing and got the point where it was like another body on the side of his, he could no longer climb his ladder or fit through the whole to the next level
and eventually one day he couldnt get out of bed even when he wanted to use his litter tray or eat.
so I had to make the painful choice to have to PTS
It was horrible as due to the tumor they had to give him anesthetic first and go straight in the heart and i wish i didnt have to see it but I couldnt leave him to face it alone
my dad made him a golden coffin with his name engraved in it.
so heres some pics of Ronnie my brave little man

ive had 2 hamsters since him, Reuben then Sydney who both passed away at about 3 years old Reuben in his Sleep one day and sydney in my arms. love them also x
