Well. You know ive been wanting to try and find McMac a cage mate with boar dating and everything. I have asked my mum straight up if I could adopt another guinea pig and she said no more animals -_-
But I am not going to give up so easily. My mum is the only way to get to the shelter (unless my sister or brother take me, unlikely though) since I don't have a car and I doubt any buses go past it...

How can I convince my mum to take me to the shelter and coax her into adopting another? Thanks :) x

I would highlight that McMac needs a friend, if you put up a persuasive discussion about why he needs a friend.

You can't be with McMac every day - what does he do when your not there?
Who can he talk to?
As Guinea Pig's are herd animals they thrive on there own company.

I'm sure if you make your mum aware that you have thought about this, sourced the best rescues and researched the introductions, she will be more likely to listen to you?

Ask your mum why she is against getting Mcmac a friend?

How would she like to live a solitude life, highlight these point's in a nice way, most importantly listen to your mum's concerns of why you can't get him a friend research the answers and go back your mum with all the information you can.

She's more likely to say yes - if she know's your being responsible and finding all the information you can before jumping in.

Good Luck! x

I would get your mum to read the replies you are getting on here - I remember how difficult it was for you when you lost Momo , and how to get him seen asap by the vet - so from what I remember your mum does take things on board .I'm hopeful that if your mum reads these replies she will realise that it would be better for Mcmac to have a friend - also it might be worth re-considering the pet insurance thing if its the cost of possible vets fees she is worried about - (£6.50 ISH PER PIG PER MONTH) you could also get her to read the thread Amysmom has posted - as Amy and her mum went and got the sister of the little teddy guinea pig they bought and are really glad that they did. good luck:))

I like your style! :(|)
If it were me, I would ask to be taken to something or somewhere near by, for example, if there was something i wanted in town but couldn't afford, i would get my OH to come with me to somewhere else that was in the same area, which enabled me to pass said shop so I could go 'oh lets just pop in here' and then its a good case of the puppy dog eyes lol ;)
You could try that then be like 'ooh theres a rescue lets pop in' and then be like 'awww mcmac would love a friend like him, how lovely would that be?' etc etc
Good luck! I would take you but I'm just a bit too far from devon lol ;)

Yeah I was thinking of that whole 'lets go here oh wait lets look at some piggies while we are here) but the sanctuary is in the countryside with not much around it D:
I think I will talk to her about it, get some facts, if not then I might just get a taxi then :))
