Up until recently I had three guinea-pigs, Edie, Willow and Peggy. Edie died on wednesday (she was quite old) and now I have Peggy and Willow. I got them seperately (Willow January 2012, and Peggy January 2013) and there's always been other guinea-pigs in the group, its never been just the two of them. They get along ok but Willow chases Peggy a bit. They don't not get along, but they aren't very close :( I'm not sure what to do, when I had a group of four they all got along well but there was two pairs in the group that got along well. There's no fighting or anything they just aren't very close, is there much I can do about that? Also, how does another guinea-pigs death affect guinea-pigs?

They will be close in their own way. Piggies do not have to cuddle up to be close. I am sure they are happy together as they are not fighting. With piggies there is always a dominant one which sounds like Willow. As long as Peggy is not being stopped from eating and drinking it sounds fine.

Piggies can become depressed when a friend passes away. They all deal with it differently. I would give them more hugs and hopefully that will help.

I am very sorry you lose Edie.

Aww, I am sorry to hear about Eddie :( I remember when you first got her.

are you in a position to have anymore piggies? So long as they're not fighting and even though they're not close, they will appreciate the company of each other. The fact that Willow chases Peggy indicates to me that she is the dominant out of the two.

I had a group of four girls. They got on well as a foursome and as two pairs. Eleanor and Eliza were best friends as they had been together the longest and Erin and Ena were best friends too.

Ellie sadly died in January and although all my girls were quiet, Ellie's passing hit Eliza the most.

I have since adopted neutered boar Enoch and everyone is happy again.

I am sure your two remaining girls will be fine and they may become closer whilst they grieve for Eddie xx

Thank you for the replies :) Claire, sorry to hear about Ellie she was a lovely guinea-pig :( I don't really want to get any more guinea-pigs at the moment, I'm going to uni in 2014 so its not really a good idea to get any more pets at the moment. They seem to be better today, they were eating their vegetables together and when I was cleaning them out they were sitting together in one corner and seemed quite happy :)
