Hello,
My piggie has been quiet all day and has really just been lying around. I have sensed that there is something wrong with her but thought it might just be in my head. She hasn’t eat much all day, although she has started eating some more just now.
I heard her make a strange noise a minute ago while she was pooping. She made the noise about 3 or 4 times and it is different from what I usually hear. I’m not sure if it is trouble pooping, diarrhoea or something worse.

She has just been to the vet about two weeks ago about trouble peeing and a possible bladder stone however they didn’t think she had one.

She lives by herself and we are very close. I do have a video of her pooping and making the noise however it wont seem to allow me to attach it. The noise is deeper than usual and ends higher. It’s a short noise.

Any advice or thoughts is much appreciated

This is probably because she is depressed and lonely. Sadly, humans cannot make up for a guinea pig companion, no matter how much they try. I wish we could make up for a piggy companion, but that isn’t the case.

Two sows should have a minimum of 7.5 square feet.

When looking for a piggy, keep in mind to get a sow or neutered boar. Breeding is very dangerous for guinea pigs, and the sow could die.

Adopt from a shelter and not a pet store. Pet store guinea pigs are often unhealthy, pregnant, or a different gender than the pet store says.

Thank you very much for your reply.
I know my piggie and she is happy. She does lots of normal Guinea pig things such as popcorning and running around. She is right next to my bed and we talk. I bring her out for a couple of hours every night and she cuddles me. I don’t think she would get along with another piggie before I had her she was adopted to keep another guinea pig company after their other one died and that piggie was very angry about her being there and bullied her for a while. However that piggie sadly died 4ish years ago as she was much older. And after she died I desperately wanted another piggie to keep her company however I wasn’t allowed one. I think too much time has past now and they wouldn’t get along.

My guinea pig is eating a lot more now, she is currently munching on hay. She is still making the noise. It is only when she is pooping

I would recommend a vet visit. It sounds like she's in pain when she goes to the toilet.

Hi!

Please switch from weighing weekly to weighing daily at the same time ot monitor her food intake. Start topping her up with fribrous syringe feed and water once she loses over 50g of weight in a matter of a day or a few days.
Loss of appetite is often caused by a pain issue somewhere. Since hay is making ca. 80% of the daily food intake, you can't control it otherwise than by weighing. Cheap kitchen scales from a supermarket are adequate to check on a relative weight loss.
Not Eating And The Importance Of Syringe Feeding Fibre
How To Pick Up And Weigh Your Guinea Pig

Did your vet check for blood, crystals and protein in the urine? Did they also check the reproductive system to see whether there is a problem there (womb, ovarian cysts)? If the bladder is soft to the touch, then a stone is unlikely; but it doesn't mean that there is no problem in terms of a urinary tract infection (UTI; bacterial) or a cystitis (non-bacterial inflammation of the bladder walls).

Poor pet :( I Hope your piggie gets better, stuff like this has happened on the forums alot and it breaks my heart too see any piggy in pain, me,donal, ed and shadow send lots of hugs to you and your girl

She has her appetite back and is eating a lot. There was no blood in her pee or anything and I haven’t heard her make the noise again. She seems a lot more relaxed and like herself so hopefully it was just diarrhoea or something small. I will continue to monitor her carefully though.
Thank you

Thank you so much, that means a lot. She seems to be a lot better now. She has regained her appetite and is very alert.
Much love to you and your piggies
