Bellatrix seems to be in a lot of pain while pooing. She keeps squealing and her one 'area' is enlarged. She was able to pass 2 normal poos, but it was painful for her to do so! I'm going to make an appointment with the vet, but in the meantime, what is wrong and what should I do!

Could she be constipated?

I don't really know what to suggest other than make sure she keeps her gut moving - i.e. feed her as normal

It is difficult to say what is the matter without seeing the piggy. It can be constipation, a local infection/abscess or UTI (urinary tract infection can cause painful pooing as well).

Please have her seen by a vet.

She just peed, and it looked like it had a trace bit of blood in it. But now she's not squealing or acting like she's in pain anymore, after she peed. I'm gonna bring her to the vet.

She's acting normal now. I gave her some cranberry juice as that's good for a UTI, and now she's acting fine. I still will get someone to look into what happened. She's sitting in her cage eating timothy hay now.

Might be worth taking a wee sample with you to the vet. Put her in a carrier with no bedding and feed her something watery e.g. cucumber. Then once she's weed pour it into a little sample pot :))

The vet's close at 5 o'clock, and it takes an hour to get there! I can't take her today, but the immediate crisis is over with now. She's acting normal now. I'm keeping a very close eye on her though, and I've put her in a separate cage next to Woog :) That way I'll be able to monitor her food and water intake, and her poos and pee.

oh nooooo poor little Bellatrix :...:...
Have you any probiotics?
The cranberry juice is good start :) make sure it's the non sugar one tho
Good luck at the vets xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

oh yeah store the wee in the syringe or however you have it in the fridge, i got told this by my vets

wheeeeeeky loves for Bellatrix from Velvet and Onyx xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

Thank you :)

I've given her some probiotic Acidophilus powder, leftover from when Willow had her nasty bout of diarrhea. She does not like her cranberry juice at all, the silly girl. Maybe she thinks it's too sour...rolleyes She eats a bunch of pellets after I give it to her :)) She still has some discomfort when pooing and weeing, but not nearly as bad as before. I even saw her eat a poo! She's getting mad at me because I put her in a separate cage for observation, and she wants to go back in with Woog.

Thanks for telling about the wee's storage. I'll be sure to put it in the fridge.

You're welcome xx>>>
with the cranberry juice water it down a bit that might help, i have to as Velvet isn't allowed any added sugar or sweet things..... both my girls will grab the syringe to slurp up cranberry juice drool
If she's really upset not being with Woog have a go with them together, i know you want to observe but an upset piggie can get distressed :{

Alright, I'll try watering it down. My other piggies love it, maybe she's just picky :{ I put her cage next to Woog's, and they where making happy piggy noises through the bars xx>>> Bella's also got a fungal infection, which is being treated too. All these piggy issues :{

Ahh, I wish they'd stay healthy forever

I just gave them a bunch of celery! I put some of the probiotic powder on Bella's and she's eating it :)

I gave her a lot of timothy hay, and I say her eating pellets! I have one of those wire ball things that I filled with hay to make eating it more fun for Bella! She likes it!

You can see it in the picture here, but the piggy is Fermi :))

Thanks! Good news too! Bella just wee'd without showing any discomfort at all! She just backed up a little, and no pain at all! It looked normal too! I'm doing a little happy dance now! I know this whole thing isn't over, but this is a good sign! She just did a lot of poos too :))

Well I'm off to bed now!

Update!

Took Bellatrix to the vet. She has a UTI and is on antibiotics and anti-inflammatory. She also had some crystals starting to form, which could have turned into a bladder stone. The vet did an ultrasound on her and saw this. She advised cutting out anything with calcium in her diet. But Bella's fine and happy now! She's munching on her timothy hay now :) Thank you to all that helped out! :)

Thanks Glynis :) I've got to give her Metacam in an hour, and give her plenty of fluids. The vet said this would flush out and calcium crystals. It was the crystals that were hurting her, poor girl :( She's feeling better now! I even moved her back in with Woog :)

Thank you for your support! x>>

Aww poor Bellatrix! Hope she gets better soon and glad it was caught in time, so that it didn't turn into a stone.

Thanks :) I am very relieved it was not a stone. It was the calcium crystals that were causing her discomfort though. Now that's taken care of and Bella is feeling much better! :)
