Truffle and Polo

Truffle's heartbeat was 230 bpm 🫀. He writhed around in his carrier on the way and got little bits of hay in his eyes so I took some hay out. He bit his pee pad and pressed himself flat against the side of the carrier. He liked the vet and purred hello when being taken out of his carrier. He didn't nip once or get cross, and the vet said he was very well behaved 👍. The vet student syringed water into his mouth to clear food out for his dental examination. Instead of swallowing it, he sat unblinking, like a little toy Truffle with the water in his mouth as we stood and watched him hopefully. The vet started talking about him and he swallowed a bit of water now and then discretely. His molars were visible however and are in good condition (unlike those of MS who needs fillings 😕) On being put back in his carrier, he purred a little goodbye 👋

Oh yes, I recognise him 🥰 He is so gorgeous. It's Tulsi! It's so nice that the Hamster Forum is up and running again after the Online Safety Bill disrupted things. It's a wonderful resource, like the Guinea pig Forum, marvellous. Kulfi is so beautiful ❤️

We're glad to say the temperature has gone down today and it's 24C indoors with a gentle breeze, so we're nice and comfy atm 👍 I think Wednesday is due to be 26C so back on cool pod alert in a few days 🌡️
 
We had the windows wide open. Polo stood and looked up, staring at the sky with a worried look. It was starting to rain. He trotted towards his hide, but then changed his mind and went back to his hay 😄 I wonder if his previous owner kept Polo and Truffle outside. Otherwise he will never have encountered rain before ☂️

Maybe he noticed the change in the light or the atmospheric pressure, animals are much more sensitive than humans. But then he remembered that in his new home those things don't mean he gets wet and cold. 👍☂️
 
What cage is that? I love the white bars. Mine has black ones which I am not so keen on!
 
Thank you! I bought Kavee and Songmics cages and I think the horizontal white bars are Songmics. They all fit together, which is nice. I like the white ones best too.
 
So we went to the vet in a nice air conditioned taxi, no stress, timing was perfect despite driving along the most congested high street in London ❤️🚕 We arrived very early and waited in a wonderful air conditioned waiting area. I'm getting better at travelling, but MS's neat set up with cool pod in a snuggle sack and blanket for me to perch on turned into a piggy sandwich. She had to extract me from the snuggle sack and eventually took out the blanket as the cool pod had warmed up a bit.
The vet looked at my teeth and listened carefully to my respiratory sounds as well as doing a thorough examination of lymph glands etc. He said everything is looking fine, including my teeth 😁 and amazingly could put his fingers in my mouth without getting nipped. MS looked on enviously 😄.

My friends, he gave me Met 😎☀️.

MS: The bit Polo finds a bit difficult to discuss is, well, he said Polo has to cut down pellets to 5% of his diet because Polo is chunky. He may have something like a sleep apnea. Yes, that was the term he used 😄

Truffle: I was on my own in the heat at 29C but I coped. MS said I am a brave piggy. I hope I will be able to grow my coat back soon and that the hot weather is over for a long time.
