Truffle and Polo

Stripe was off veg for a month or two. The probiotic didn't work on him so I gave him poo soup two hours after antibiotics.

I worried about his vitamin c while he was off veg so did supplement although some people don't believe in that.
Excellent advice! Yes, I will collect the ingredients from Truffle mid morning tomorrow. I hope he finds them palatable. Your advice is excellent, there are so many things I forgot or didn't know. It's great to hear from someone who has been through it themselves. Polo: Thanks Stripe, thanks buddy 🐾❤️ I have some Pro C as well, so poor Polo will be getting that syringed in (hopefully) as well. He won't take it any other way, not even in food.

I sprinkle a pinch of Pro C on forage every night as my piggies live in the garage and it helps build up their autumn/winter/spring reserves.

Polo tucking in to hay in the playpen while MS waits anxiously for the poops. There were some nicely formed ones in his cage, but some smelly ones too. He's had Baytril and a bit of Pro C just now. Of course MS lost the Pro C scoop so had to faff about with teaspoons and a scale, but it seems to be good stuff. Polo isn't convinced, but he has been good about swallowing the yucky medication ❤️🐾

Hope you and your piggies are doing well! Haven't been keeping up as not doing well myself, but I did want to check in

It's good stuff, I will get it into them somehow 🙏❤️

The poo soup took two weeks to work
Well, last night I decided the poop soup could not wait, and it was perfect timing, so I put Truffle into a carrier. I did check his pouch, but no poops. But a few minutes later I got a small, perfectly shaped poop in the carrier, thank you Truffle. I broke it in half and tried to feed it to Polo directly as I think we all do initially, but he looked at it slightly disapprovingly and sniffed, no cigar. So I mixed it with some Pro C into a muddy brown soup. It feels a bit strange squirting liquid poo into your pet's mouth, but he didn't object to it greatly. There must be some food quality to it. Luckily I managed to avoid unlucky splashes and so on 🫘 So I have administered my first poop soup. I'm a real guinea pig slave now 😄🐾❤️

Well done. It’s not the nicest task but being a poop soup maker is part of our role.
Try mashing a poop with a little warm water and then letting it cool before syringe feeding it.

Hope you’re doing better @Rivervixen

I cleaned his bottom, he and Truffle seems to be having a competition with the rods, but they came away without a problem ☺️ I had to retrieve Polo several times as he wriggled alot and he gave me a kick on my wrist with his broad, sharp back claws. I look like I have been inclined to a bit of self harm with a little slit over my artery 😐 I needed a bit of F10 myself 🩹

Just make sure the poo soup is either two hours before or after antibiotics

You're doing great!

Hope Polo feels better soon.

As to the sperm rods……spring is in the air!

Wally’s (un)helpfully gunking up his pee pads. 😳

Oh yes .... poop soup ...... I remember it well when one of my rb piggies became ill. It does seem strange syringe feeding it to a piggie.. 😮

Meds done, long suffering Polo took the Enrofloxacin 😝 and got some freshly picked grass as a reward 😙 I will give him some Fibreplex just now, but he is napping cosily post cage clean and bedding change so I am reluctant to bother him, although it has to be done 💉
Truffle is in the playpen waiting for me to change his bedding 🏡
