Senior Guinea Pig
I have not been able to get on here much recently as work is crazy but I could not miss posting a tribute to Truffle who died in the early hours of Thursday morning.
We adopted Truffle from Hazelcroft rescue in March 2015. Truffle was only a baby herself but had arrived in rescue pregnant. She had 3 babies, 1 sow and 2 boars. We adopted her with her daughter Toffee and they lived happily with our existing sows Mabel and Emma. Over the years we lost Mabel and then Emma and Truffle and Toffee lived as a pair. They were so lovely together and we often caught them grooming each other. Truffle was always timid but got braver over time as long as we didn't do anything to spook her.
We noticed that she was a bit off colour but could not put our finger on exactly what was wrong. She was eating still and responded to pain relief and gut meds. She had an appointment booked with Simon in Northampton but passed away before we could get her there.
Toffee is doing ok, we tried bonding her with her neighbours Storm and Cherry at the weekend, all went brilliantly in neutral territory but it was a different story once they were together in the C and C and Toffee could not cope with Cherry's baby energy and her and Storm started fighting. We will try her with our elderly skinny Ophelia at the weekend and go from there.
Sleep tight precious girl. Love you always.
