I have recently been told by a family member that she gets her cardboard tubes from the carpet stores as they just throw them away and they are far cheaper than pet stores so i thought id pass this info on :)

we have used them but we also get a lot of tubes and willow bridges from pampered piggies too.

we get aluminium ones from B+Q (in the plumbing). they are great, you can stretch and bend them.

There's a carpet shop round the corner from me so fingers crossed I can get some big tubes for the garden. Ta for the tip! O0

Fab - I'll pop in and see if they can give my any - there's one just round from my work. O0

I use ones that I bought at P@H just now.

YUP THEY ARE GREAT, WE'VE BEEN USING THEM FOR YEARS.
ANOTHER TIP, IF YOU THINK THEY ARE TOO LONG THEY ARE EASY TO SHORTEN BY SAWING.

only downside is that they get soiled, but when they are free it doesn't matter.

also the carpet shops mostly now have to pay someone to remove their trade waste so you would be doing them a favour!

I had these for Chewy. He loved them. He played in it and he chewed it.

Is there a size which is too big for example they may get stuck, like what is a good size for a tube?

Could Cause Problems

I recently went into a pet store to buy my new guinea pigs. We went round the back and one of the cages had a guinea pig with dioreah in it. It said on the cage to tell the owner to stop giving it cardboard tubes. This may happen to your guinea pig as well but I am not certain.

No Idea

I wouldnt know. I just found out that some cardboard tubes may make them a bit ill. I think it was mainly toilet role tubes.

Toilet roll tubes often have glue on them, where hte firt bit of paper is attached - this could have been the cause ?

If you get any posters etc delivered at home or in work, then grab the cardboard tubing, cut it up and stuff the pieces with hay.

My piggies love nibbling at the hay inside it and dragging the tubes around! :))

Toilet roll tubes are safe. There cant be enough glue on them to make them ill and if they do they dont eat the whole roll at once!

Oh, and jon, it dosnt matter what size they are;)
