Hey,

I just introduced a new male companion to my ~1 year old Buddy and they're getting along great! My only concern is that they like to tear down the metal chew holder and play tug of war with it. It's the normal metal kind with the bell on the bottom that you can put wooden chew blocks on.

My major question is if it's alright for them to chew on the metal rod. I'd also like to know if anyone has any suggestions on getting them to stop without using the anti-bite spray.

Thanks for your suggestions and help!

i'm not sure, but I'm bumping this thread up so youcan hopefully get some answers

Their may be other people who can help more But i would suggest you leave it as it may be doing their teeth good but like i said other people will be able to help more

metal isnt the best thing for your piggies to chew on. I have one of these - cant you attach it more securely to the cage? alternatively put all wooden blocks on the steel bar so there is no metal for them to chew!

dont ever use anti bite spray on piggies - it can really distress them.

The first time they pulled it down the original clip came off and I was worried about them trying to eat it. I'm attaching it with string now, but they pull at it till it comes down.

It has the wooden blocks on it (which they still chew) but will bite the metal above and below the blocks as well as the little bell.

Thanks for the help so far :)

i know the ones, i have one, i think that little bit of metal shouldnt be a problem, just make sure main bits are covered - do like you say and just attach with a piece of knotted spring!

mischievious piggies!
