Update on the little one: I took my piggie to the vet today for a bladder scan. Nothing of concern was seen on the bladder scan and therefore I was offered some diagnostic x-rays for him. I agreed to it and left my beloved boy there for a couple of hours whilst they carried out the x-rays. When I went to pick him up the vet showed me his x-ray compared to a normal guinea pig x-ray. All of his tummy area was full up with poop. It was more than double that of a normal piggy. We have come to the conclusion that this may be the cause of his pain due to no bladder stones being found. We have been given 0.7 ml of Emeprid twice a day for a week (a motility drug) to see if it helps to improve the gut flora and get things moving. We hope that this will cure his pain. If there is no improvement in his tummy area we will be referred to another guinea pig specialist to see if they can get to the bottom of things. Sorry its a little long, a lot happened today. Has anyone heard of anything similar to this is piggies?

All the best! Glad that you know what is going on now. It is something that is more unusual.
I did have a sow once whose stomach was very gassed up and extended, but not the intestines, which is the usual place for bloating. It took two vet trips and a scan to get to the bottom of that mystery weight loss/pain problem.

Thankfully there has been no weight loss issues and he is still eating and drinking as normal. He is a little sleepy due to today's ordeal but otherwise he is good. Thank you for your help, it is a little unusual and i have never heard of it before.

Senior Guinea Pig
My Moo used to be very gassy but her poos were still moving through OK. Is your boy pooing at all? You could try putting him on something that vibrates. I have a massage pad but even an electric toothbrush can help. Is he gassy at all?
He is pooing normally and urinating normally. He is not gassy either. He is 10 months old and has always looked on the chubby side which i couldnt understand as he was on the same as the other pigs. Then he started showing signs of a bladder/urine problem but it as this. I think it is a possibility that he was born with whatever this is as the "chubby" parts either side of his tummy is what is full up. I will try to put up a picture of him so you can see. I will try putting him on something that vibrates as well as his medication.
