My piggies(Basil,Annie and Alice) diet is pretty standard-unlimited hay, a handful of mixed veg morning and evening and afew pellets when I go to bed to munch on overnight.I took them for a vet visit last week and all was fine except both girls had evidence of a tiny amount of calcium deposit in their wee.Nothing drastic but the fact that it was there has made me decide to cut out pellets.
There is a meadow near us with amazing forage to be found-lovely grasses, plantain, dandelion etc.My piggies are used to grass as ive picked lots for them over the winter so could I gradually change their diet over to forage only as well as their hay but no pellets and would this be enough nutritionally for them.I always wash any forage before feeding.I would revert back to veg in the winter as I don't think there would be the same nutrient content in the grasses then.
Thanks

I don't see a problem with a bit of calcium in their wee - it's how guineas excrete excess calcium.

Calcium deposits in wee as @PiggyOwner says are totally normal it is the bodies way of getting rid of excess. As long as the deposits are powdery and not gritty there is nothing to worry about or alarm. I wouldn't remove veg from their diet, you have healthy piggies so I wouldn't risk upsetting the apple cart so to speak. Veg is very good for things like Vitamin C especially peppers, I personally wouldn't go for a forage only diet

Thanks for you replies everyone.I think there were some deposits left on their fur which is why the vet mentioned it.I will use forage as an extra treat and make sure they still have peppers, tomatoes and other veg.
