I currently feed my guinea pigs twitch guinea pig pellets but I am trying to get them back onto burgess mint but they refuse to even touch it and pick out the twitch. I find twitch is slightly more hassle to get due to having to order it online/postage costs or travel to get it. Ive also read that twitch is garbage but also seen mixed reviews on this. Would twitch be okay to feed if I cant get them back onto burgess if a 10kg sack would work for 6 pigs? As I know it can go stale after so long.

A bag should only be kept open for 3-6 months as the nutrients deplete once opened. So it would depend whether you can get through a sack within 3 months - given they should only have one tablespoon per pig per day, 10kg is a lot to get through

Twitch is oat based. Ideally you are looking for Timothy based. I personally would not feed twitch and if you cant get them onto something else, then you may choose not to feed pellets. I personally don’t feed mine pellets at all.
