Just in case you have been wondering why I haven't been around quite as much this week...
Two more sows of mine have gone under the knife on Wednesday at the Cat&Rabbit Clinic in Northampton. Because of all the recent emergencies and losses as well as the Maddock's holiday, I had to put off these operations for longer than expected.
My 6 year old lady Tesni needed a burst and infected sebaceous cyst removed and my five year old Iola required a spay because of two large non-hormonal ovarian cysts. The latter turned out to be a much trickier operation than expected, as one of the cysts had started to adhere to the bowel. Thanks to Simon Madock's skill, he got it out without accidentally cutting into the bowel - which would have meant the end for Iola. It was a rather close thing, but Iola has thankfully made it through!
Poor Tesni (her Welsh name means "Warmth" or "Sun-warmed") looks rather like a too much loved toy lion that had its tail ripped out from behind!

Iola (previous name Lola) has dramatically shrunk compared to her pre-op picture! I am sure that once she is free of pain and any discomfort, she is going to enjoy her life a lot more again. Her killer instinct when it comes to food (NEVER get your fingers in between Iola and something edible!) is thankfully pulling her through.

Both ladies are making a good recovery. They have been feeling rather sore and sorry for themselves yesterday once the operation cocktail had run out, but they have kept eating with some little syringe feed and mushed pellets in a bowl support from me. Iola has got extra zantac for any gassing in the guts due to the pressure of the cysts and then the sudden release, in addition to her painkiller.
They are hopefully going to perk up more with every passing day now; even Tesni, who is the frailer of the two. It is going to take a couple more days more for the body to settle down and the healing process to kick in fully.
No rest for the wicked...
PS: I want to thank again the large number of forum members who have contributed to the wonderful surprise flower delivery by @Tim last week after posting on my thread after Angharad's death. Their every so kind and generous gesture has touched me deeply and cheered me up no end!
