Before any of you start, I have already brought them to the vet, he is sure they both have mammary cancer, but there is the slim chance it’s mastitis, I’m worried that it is cance and I’m making them suffer through another week while we try antibiotics, if it is cancer it’s too far gone as it’s now in the lymph nodes, please be honest with me was I wrong not to put them down so they wouldn’t be suffering or was I right to give them a chance.

What did your vet say? I'm pretty sure that the majority of vets would not recommend treatments that they truly believed would have no impact on the condition or that would prolong unnecessary suffering. If you trust your vet I would say let them guide you with when the timings right. It might be that with some pain relief they can continue to live normal piggy lives for a while longer

So sorry that your piggies are both sick. What tests has the Vet carried out to conclude that they both have cancer?

He said he was about 90 percent sure it was cancer due to the numerous lumps on them along their sides down their chest and by their mammaries, the same for both but as he couldn’t be sure he wanted to try the antibiotics but it’s unlikely to be an infection.

The number of lumps, one of them has over twelve small lumps and two large ones, they hate to be handled so when I do, I use blankets to keep them comfortable and it wasn’t until I was washing them that I found them, I feel terrible, like a bad mom

I'm really sorry, it's never easy to know when is the right time. When are you due back to the vets? Perhaps they can give you guidance on how much your boys may be suffering/end of life care. There are no right and wrong answers when it comes to palliative care.

Please don't feel bad. Sometimes lumps like these can come out of no where very quickly. I would say it's unlikely to have built up over an extended period of time. I have had similar feelings when I lost one of mine after surgery to remove a sizable abscess. Thinking/ asking "what if" and feeling guilty is very normal but these things are outside of our control so do be kind to yourself and enjoy time with your boys while they are still here

Next week, give the antibiotics time to work, if they works, I’ve already had to put one down three months ago, large cancerous tumour on his back, he was the brother and son of them respectively, I have one more of that family left and I’ll just have to be hyper vigilant of her.

I feel heartbroken for you. You obviously love them and want to do the right thing for them and I'm sure they sense that. Sending you hugs and good vibes

Things don’t look so good today, I was giving them the antibiotics and they are in pain today when they weren’t yesterday, it kills me to just see them lying there not bothering to eat, but I’ll give the antibiotics more time.

Did the vet prescribe any pain relief at all? It might be worth giving the vets a call and asking for some to tide them over to their next appointment. If they have deteriorated and aren't eating I would go back to the vets as a matter of urgency

I am so sorry to hear this.
You have a tough decision ahead.
I’m sure that you will do what is best for the piggies because your love for them shines through.
Holding you in my heart
