thanks alison

Hello, you'll find, like humans, piggies will have there favourite things, the best thing is to experiment especially veg,

Heres a veggie list,
http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=42

I made my way through different veg trying things out and sometimes one piggie liked things and the other didn't some time none of them liked it, they are quite fussy animals !

Aslong as you have a bowl of nugget based food, not a muesli, they should get good nutrients from that, the reason we promote nugget is because with the other muesli each different thing has a different nutrient and so the piggy will selectively eat what he/she likes and not get all the goodness, where as with nuggets all is there in one thing!

Hay should be available at all times as it's good for there teeth and digestion so aslong as you have a full hay rack that you keep topped up your good there.

A Bowl of nuggets, a hay rack, and a bowl of veg put in the cage everyday should keep them happy (:

thanks

thanks for that
right what a do is a keep the hay stocked up , always have a bowl burgess supa guinea which is more muslei a think , but a do have a bag of burgess nuggets so will start using them instead and a feed them twice a day with fresh food but will go have a wee look at that veg list the now ,,
thanks again

A good brand of pellets are better as they contain all the important nutrients, there are lots to choose from (avoid the muesli type as they will pick out the coloured bits that are fatty)
I bulk order from this site:

Veggies are important too due to the Vitamin C content, piggies need this daily so two helpings per day are what most owners do.
Try them with red/green peppers, chicory, raw beetroot (no leaves) - usually a hit. We're waiting for the corn on the cob season, our lot love them with the husks.
Noticed you mentioned dock leaves - these are toxic to piggies so please avoid at all costs.

My girls had only ever been fed on rabbit food until they were rescued and it took a little while for them to get used to fruit and veggies. I just kept giving them a good variety every day and now they'll eat most things. They do have their favourites though like anybody else. Parlsey, sweetcorn, lettuce and spinach (in small amounts) being on their top list. :))
