I have today been approached to take on two sows via a friend of friend. Word certainly gets around if you are a piggy lover!

They are believed to be pregnant but the owner, although a very responsible person and caring person, can't keep them anymore due to ill health. Please don't slat the owner saying that they aren't caring because the sows may be pregnant as I have been told of the owner's heartbreak with potentially having to rehome them.

I really want to help ... and my heart is ruling my head at the moment.

What should I do?

Don't ask me.... I've got no issue with heart ruling head, I say - take them!

If you've got room and funds and room in your heart for 2 more (plus potential babies) then I think they'd be lucky to come to you.

I will sleep on it ... as they say.

I have a nice indoor cage (which I will have to dust off as it has been in the shed for ages) that I could house them indoors because of the cold weather if they are expecting.

My head says no, but my heart says yes ... I could just foster them for a while until things hopefully look better. Yeap, sleeping on it.

Haha I know all about heart ruling head moment, little Amber was one of those. But as Sophie and Graham say if you can afford it why not. :)

Good luck deciding!

I'm the worst person for my heart ruling over my head - probably how I ended up with 27. I'd say go for it. It'd be great if they could get a home with someone who knows how to look after them properly. :)

Not an easy decision - in fact it can be agonising sometimes.

The question is.......... now that you know about them and you know they need a good home will you be able to sleep and forget all about them if you say no?

If you will always be wondering what became of them then you have your answer.

It's a question rescues have to face all the time ............:(:(:(

I agree, there are so many pigs that I've turned down. I still think about them months and even years later, just hoping they've gone to someone who will love them and take care of them. :(

I am not asleep yet ... thinking until I sleep and I guess wake up thinking yet again! rolleyes:)

You have to do what suits your own particular circumstances but I'm sure if you do have babies needing to find homes there are people on here who will help out, as has already been said.

Good luck with your decision making x

Yes, the two sows are coming to live with me, albeit on a temporary basis. I am hoping to collect them tomorrow.

They sound gorgeous. Both long-haired but apparently one is straight haired and the other wavy, both gold and white.

I can't wait to meet them and tuck them up all warm, safe and cosy for Christmas!

aww, goldie, you'll be a great mommy to these two! give them a brush from me! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thats great you are taking them! post pigtures as soon as possible pleeeeeeeese ;)

aw lucky pigs. Someone came to me yesterday with a rabbit they wanted to rehome, and I had to say no :( I don't have any more space for rabbits sadly but I feel sick with guilt - and I'm not even a rescue!

Well done Goldie, lucky piggies indeed. Look forward to seeing some piccies in due course.:)

They have arrived. They are beautiful! x)

I have been keeping them quiet to settle in. It is obvious that they have been very well cared for and loved ... I think they are quite heavily pregnant though.

Quite heavily pregnant was an under-statement! rolleyes

Check out my posting under the Pregnany and Labour section!

PS. These two girlies that I am looking after are named Lottie and Lola :)
