Hello everyone,
I've recently had to seperate my young boar from his mummy, and now he's lonely!
He's nearly 4 weeks old, would it be okay to introduce him to a 7 week old boar? Do you think this would cause any problems?
Thanks!

They should be fine. The teenage stage kicks in around 6 months. As long as they are bonded in a neutral area then then it may work.

Nothing is guaranteed with boars but its worth a try!

I'm doing this today with 4 week Gregory and 2 month old Laurent
Laurent has been popcorning like mad most of the afternoon!
Good Luck x

i put my 4 4 week old boys in with the older borther who was 3 months older and there got on fine

untill the older one nerally killed one of the baby ones the older one never liked the one he neally killed. The older one is now on his own again.

It is certainly worth giving it a try, but watch out when puberty hits.
Many young boars will have a dominance battle around that time and if you have one which is acceptable to not being the dominant one, then you should be ok.

Put them on neutral territory at first and perhaps introduce them slowly, obviously away from the scents of nearby sows housed separately if you have any.

It could work out, but they may fall out when puberty hits (3-4 months). My first two boys were very happy together, until puberty hit and the younger of the two tried to challenge the older one for dominance. This resulted in the younger one almost ripping the others lip off, we managed to fix him up and after that they were seperated.

Like Goldie said its worth a try. When introducing what I tend to do is give them a few hours together on neutral territory every day until I'm sure they'll be okay together, then I clean the cage out and they move in together and hopefully live happily ever after. :)
