After an unusually long warm Autumn, the next few frosty nights are going to come as a major shock to any outdoors/unheated indoors guinea pigs. If you haven't yet, please bring any hutch piggies indoors or under a firm roof NOW!

Please make sure that they are being kept warm with snugglesafes and insulation, as they are particularly vulnerable at this point, not having had any change to acclimatise yet to cooler conditions yet.

Would this affect any guinea pigs who already live inside in somewhere like a lounge?

mine are inside ... i knew it would be cold last night so just upped the heating a notch...

I think if your home is kept at a fairly constant temperature, then it won't affect your piggies if they live inside.
But like @artcasper said, if it feels chilly indoors then maybe turn the heating up a little.
Plus think about where they are located in the room - if they are right by a window they might be more susceptible to drafts, etc. so you could always drape a fleece over part of their cage to offer some protection.

Mine are in a bay window - it's great for light and air flow on a nice day but can get chilly at night as it's exposed. But as @Swissgreys recommends, I cover with a fleece to add cosiness. Am also awaiting a Ziggy's Piggies order of snuggly loveliness so they'll have plenty of cosy nooks and corners

I use overnight snugglesafes for my older/frailer piggies and put an extra fleece over the cages by the big bay window at night to keep the cold air out while the heating is off whenever we have a frosty night.

I put a fleece over Hettie's bed area last night, lots of hay also and she lives inside

Quite a substantial frost on my car this morning although we do live out in the countryside.

Yep, already just 4 degrees here in East Staffs by 6.30pm when leaving the office. Mine are all cuddly wrapped up with snugglesafes, thermal covers, hutch hugger, additional cover, boxes of hay. I've got this down to a 't' these days.

My girls are indoors but they hunkering down in their cosies as though they know how cold it is outside,

My girls are in the lounge but right under the bay window and I have added a couple of extra fleece pads now their little fleece houses and they both love to snuggle in them! Heating is on all the time now so I think they will be fine!

I'm fairly new to guinea pigs, we adopted an unwanted pair a few weeks ago, they have been kept outside although we have moved their hutch into a shed, I have purchased 2 snugglesafe pads, when do you think I should start using them? I don't want to be too eager so as they don't appreciate them when it gets REALLY cold

I have started using my snuggle heat safe pads last night as temp at freezing point, I,put lots of hay on top of heat pad. vet bed under heat pad. Ive lined the bedroom area with cardboard box,and cardboard bedding.piggies will appreciate the warmth,:)

I'd start using them now. They will appreciate them right now.

My Guinea Pigs live indoors - the heating is on all night and their room is the warm (not too warm - but they seem fine). Is there anything I should get them to make sure that they are comfortable with the temperature?

I know this is a guinea pig form but how can I keep my bunnies warm as they don't have a bedroom area like in a hutch, they just have a run and wendy house

A wooden hidey hole, a pet carrier or a small hutch all which can be stuffed full of hay? also snugglesafes are a good heat source.

I'm constantly looking at what the temp is going to be each nite.... I'm very worried bout my two outside . our first winter and I always go to the hutch each morning hoping they both still snuggled up with their snuggle safes and lots of fleece in and over a little fabric cosy house... if they are there I'm happy that they were warm . .. if they have been to the bottom level I'm worried as down there is colder and more open for daytime. I'm slowly plucking up the courage to bring them indoors against my oh wishes into a cage for the winter as there is no way I can carry on like this for the whole winter . ... we haven't got to below 0deg yet. I even try stay cold myself feeling too guilty when the heating is on... never thought I would be this neurotic ! !

Just put their personal little radiator by the cage (inside) for the first time. Good idea about covering their cage with fleece overnight.

The sudden drop in temperature took me by surprise, I hadn't expected it to get so low and when I started to see the cars freezing overnight I just had to hope my little piggies would be ok
I couldn't go and give them any extra hay or add any insulation to the hutch as I was at work and hadn't thought to look at how it would be before my shift started :(

Hi can I have some help with my 4 guinea pigs? So at the moment they're in an outdoor hutch, with a thermal cover, as well as bubble wrap under that and underneath the hutch. In their cosy area they have a pigtop from piggiepigpigs, and another cosy fleece item. Their also two other corners between them for them to snuggle into. They're on fleece on the top and bedding on the bottom. They have a hot water bottle which is buried under everything in the sleeping compartment to keep it nice and cosy. Their cover is shut throughout the day.

Please don't tell me I'm a bad owner for not bringing them inside! They normally are in a shed outside, but my nan died recently this year and my uncle had to move out, so all his stuff is in the piggies shed. The only cage I have is for emergency medical reasons only, and the last time they were put in there (bonfire night) 2 of the piggies had a little fight, so it's definitely not suitable for all 4. We have 3 rabbits inside too, so they couldn't go in my bedroom.

I think your piggies will be fine as it looks Iike they will be keeping warm. Maybe in the bedroom area you could add some barley straw and some hay for them to cuddle up to. The hot water bottle is a good idea!
