Came in to the pig room this morning to one of my girls sitting hunched up in the corner and refusing to eat. Rushed over to the vets. She has an ulcer in her eye and might have some tummy pain - but they also think it could be the general pain from her eye that's causing the lack of eating. Was given two eye drops (exocin & remend) plus 0.3ml of metacam twice daily and told to step in with syringe-feeding her. Told to go back if she seemed to be getting worse.
It's been about 7 hours since the vets. I've tried syringe-feeding her 3 times but she's fighting me every step of the way and still refusing to eat on her own. She's only pooped a couple of times in that period and they've been super small and dry. I'm at a loss - I'll keep trying syringe feeding every couple of hours but she's fighting me so hard on it. I another pig not even two weeks ago to some sort of tummy problem that escalated super fast and I'm absolutely terrified of losing her too. Any advice? Worth phoning the vets back up even though there has been no change in her condition?

Worth adding that her heart and lungs were fine this morning and her gut sounded okay. Her temperature was a bit low and her weight is stable.

Nope, I've tried the dish, a spoon and my finger. She won't take it at all. She'll nose a pellet but shows no interest in actually eating anything.

Yup, I've tried that and she just starts throwing her head around to avoid me. I can get tiny amounts in but we're talking less than a 1ml syringe worth each session and that easily takes over 20 minutes.

Currently it's mushed up pellet mix (she usually likes these pellets) and I've also tried some 'poo soup' from her healthy cagemate. Got the Oxbow Critical Care arriving tomorrow as mine was quite out of date.
