Ok after reading about cleaning Boars willys I went and checked dukes. Its teeny weeny! No where near as big as some in the pictures and when protruding, it looked like a cauliflower :red Am I doing it right? Or is it not fully out? :red Lmao! What a subject! Sorry Duke! :))

Guinea pigs bits can differ a lot in size, and some boys have "cauliflower" penises!

Llewelyn isn't one of the big boys either, but as far as I can see it's not keeping him from leading a very busy boar life!

Haha Thanks for that wiebka - I cant say ive seen alot of piggy willys so wasnt sure if I was doing it right and what was normal :)

Too be fair I don't think you actually need to produce the penis it's self, I do believe we only have to check the sac for anything they may have gathered. Anytime I have read info it never says to extrude the penis.

I could be wrong....

Well I do check the sac and it does get the odd strand of hay and what not stuck in it, but ive never had a problem with his willy :red

Hate to say it, but extruding the penis fully is the best way to check it's actually clean...a lot can get stuck in there! And the white creamy stuff - some people have called it "smegma" - tends to sit around the shaft of the penis itself, which you can only get to by fully extruding it.

There's certainly a skill to it with some boars, trying to extrude it fully. Poor Elijah and Errol were rather confused when I sat them in the bath the other week with their bits and pieces hanging out. :red

Hi Lisa, i replied on the other thread too.

If there are no visible signs of infection, swelling, blood etc then there is no need to extrude the penis unless hair/hay has entangled around the shaft. This would be apparant when you pulled & would need to be GENTLY removed.

The term cauliflower penis relates not to the penis itself but to the foreskin, which becomes "frilled."

LOL Laura..poor boys :))

I think they were a bit shocked because it's not exactly something I do too often! I don't go around poking at their parts frequently, usually just look regularly and once in a while actually extrude and clean, so yes they were a bit baffled this time round. :))

I didn't mean to imply in my last post that anyone should go extruding their poor boars penis' every day, agree with Niki that just a quick look gives you a good idea, but knowing how to extrude the penis and having a look at the shaft and tip to see what is normal is also worthwhile.

When i get my jive back i am going to have to give this a go not done it yet and not thinking i am going to be thanked for it either!

ok I'm baffled I havent a clue whether I'm doing it right, its kind of flat and looks like a cauliflower. Maybe i need to give it another go.

I agree Laura & for me, your key words are "KNOWING HOW TO."

If somone doesn't know how to correctly do this problems can occur.
Better to leave be than to possibly cause a problem trying.

This is Wilbur (RIP). He had a cauliflower penis. :)

Mods note

Please be careful with the advice being handed out here - it is not ideal to attempt any procedure, including extruding a penis, unless you are experienced and feel confident to do so.

If in doubt please ask for assistance from your vet or appeal for help from a more experienced owner nearby.

I'm not particulary worried, it looks clean and normal enough. Just not sure if I'm getting it right. :)
Thanks for all the help and advise x
