Hi I’ve just taken in this new 4 week old guinea pig that is ridiculously skinny. It currently weighs 140 grams and you can just feel it’s bones. What is a good food to help fatten him up?

A good hay based diet is needed as weight gain will take quite some time and needs to be done in a healthy way. Potentially needs to be syringe fed but really the best thing you can do is take this one to a vet for a thorough check up and be given advice specific to your piggy’s medical situation.
Does your piggy have another older piggy to live with?

:agr:
A vet check should be a first step.
Hope baby gains weight soon.
A companion is essential for emotional well-being too.

I wouldn't worry too much (atleast I'm not worrying) My 8 week old guinea pigs are around 260g and when they first came they appeared alot smaller (I imagine around 220gish) I have a theory that some guinea pigs don't get fed as much if for example a breeder has lots and lots of guinea pigs it may be harder to meet the nutritional needs all of the guinea pigs especially the smaller guinea pigs who may get pushed away from food by larger/more dominant sliblings. I know my guinea pigs haven't stopped eating and drinking since they have arrived. Also even though I've been told they're 8 weeks I imagine they're atleast 2 weeks younger. Yours may even be 3 weeks. The most important thing for a guinea pig is a companion. They will eat significantly less without a friend I know this from experience. Xx
