100 grams underweight. And that is only every other week. My baby Blaze has severe weight issues, well he is underweight, if currently healthy, and his weight keeps yoyoing.
His weight goes between two points, 750grams and 850grams, ideally he needs to gain and maintain another 100grams...
The vet and I are now believing he may have a genetic issue. but any ideas on the weight.
His best friend Master Cinderella is a large chunky pig, and Blaze is eating, as he is gaining weight.
Any ideas?
Obviously he is healthy at the moment, but the poor wee guy has no reserves and that is what I am worried about.

The weights since 3 Jan are
815; 830; 738; 792; 820; 826; 772; 848; 760; 857

How old is he? Some pigs are naturally small. Is he getting the amount of food that he wants/needs?
A friend owned a sow who never went above 1lb 8oz, that is about 780gm.
Even when the pig died at the age of 7 years, she still had what I describe as "baby nails" and she behaved like a 6 month old pig!

It's a worry when they are small. Eccles is similar he goes from 850g to 900g he was so tiny when I got him, vey long though but slim. He is giving me the evil eye at the mo, he always does while munching so he does eat.

Could be genetic but could just be how Blaze is. Is he highly active? Or share a cage with a mate who hogs the bowl? I feel Pudsey does this and it has crossed my mind to seperate but they do love one another and sleep in the same igloo so that would be a cause of stress.

Sorry no help, but know what its like to have smaller pigs they make up for it with personality though. :)

To be honest I wouldn't worry providing he is a happy little lad who eats and does everything that a "normal pig" does. I have some smaller pigs myself - some of them have been inbred, so perhaps that's a contributing facotr? - but I would only worry if they stopped eating. Some of my smaller pigs eat the most - I don't know where they put it all, to be honest. I've seen a picture of Blaze and he didn't look unhealthy, but you're a good mum for worrying about him :)

That is 3.5 ounces I would go on alert and seek advice from the vet Helen. Hope he is ok, its a lot to loose in 2 days. x

If they are digi ones the battery may need replacing or resetting. I had this with mine. I weighed Kitty and the scales said 285g! I paniced but she looked the same! Thankfully when I reset she was back to the 800g mark!

I always have a feel for Eccles before I weigh him and can usually tell if he has lost, I don't get it though he is always at the food bowl but only gains slowly.
