My mum has 3 boys, some of you may know, that were i got them from was HORRIBLE so i reported them to the rspca...

i may have told you their called alvin simon and theodore.. well alvin and theodore are fine, running around a little timid...

BUT simon is a little rascle, always tries to bite me, fidgets even when i hold him with a towl so he would feel comfortable, when we got him home he had mites & scabs over his back from fighting... then i noticed hes not putting on any weight.. next thing i noticed today hes picking on theodore & biting him, i got him out of the cage & he wouldnt let me take a pic but i found a HUGE lump around his willy...

is this right..

i dont know what to do, i was meant to make my mum happy BUT their fighting :(

would anyone like to take simon and give him a home that he can be especially looked after as i wont know if I'm doing anything right. iv not had any expeience of this beforee

HELP!

I'm afraid I'm no expert but I have heard that three boys rarely get along together for any length of time. If you have space you could get a baby boar to pair with Simon (as long as he isn't aggressive to the baby of course) and have two separate cages/hutches for the two pairs?
As for the huge lump around his willy it could just be his testicles - when Rocky's testicles dropped I was alarmed by how large they were in comprison to his little body, and spent a frantic few days reading up about impaction! However if it seems unusual to you then a trip to the vet can't do any harm.
I hope someone more knowledgeable can answer your questions more definately for you
Good luck x

thanks for that hun.. but no space what so ever lol!

its like his willy is on a huge lump surly this cant be his testicles :s

hmmm this probably should be in the H&I,
3 boys can rarely be kept together so its probably best to split them if they are fighting,
i know you want to make your mum happy but she will have to be prepared for an occasional fall out as its bound to happen with piggies.
Biting and trying to run are very common with new piggies and you havent had them that long,it can take months and months to tame some piggies,
I'm sorry to be harsh but it was a little silly to get 3 male piggies and not prepare for a fall out, with three piggies you should have a spare care and room and money for an extra piggy to befriend one if they fall out,try a thread in the rehoming section as that will help if you need to rehome
With anything like lumps or bad mites/weightloss the piggy needs to go to a vet sooner rather than later xxxxxx

Could you get a photo of the lump?
This link is about sexing guinea pigs: http://www.cavyspirit.com/sexing.htm
Does the lump look anything like the photos at the bottom of that page? They're all normal testicles.
If you are worried take him to vet hun, then anything that is wrong can be diagnosed and it will put your mind at rest too.

Edit: *** re-read your original post, if his mites are still untreated and there are scabs/fighting wounds too you should pop him along to the vet to get some meds for him. I have heard that the stress of having mites can cause weightloss too which could explain why he isn't putting on any weight.
Let us know how it goes

i just had to pick my little a;lvin up now as theodore has started picking on him.. so now i dont know what to do.. me or mum hasnt seen alvin been vicious so i think were gonna put simon into rescue and i think my cousins going to have theodore.. iv got a little bpx ready to separate them if they do it again with hay a towl, water and some dry food...

the only thing i can do at the moment

ill have yo see whether they have another piggie at the rescue centre as theodore & simon both are the fighting type .. not having my little alvin to get hurt :( .. iv just been crying on the phone to my mum, shes in cyprus & I'm looking after them for her

they were all in together when we first went to get them so we thought they would be fine in one huge cage.. obviously not ay :(

hmmm to be successful with a trio or a pair they have to be introduced on neutral grounds, prefferbly bathed before hand to eliminate scent on the first meeting, with the biggest cage possible, at minimum for 3 boars i would never go small than a 2 x 6 C&C cage.
maybe if your mum wants to bond Alvin with a baby she should research a little first or even come on here to get tips to prevent this happening again.
Dont be put off by them falling out because if the bonding process is done correctly boars can live very happy together,i have 8 who are all in pairs and none fight so its definantly possible.
so remember maximum room, compatible personalitys like a dominant pig with a submissive piggy works well and best pairings are usually a baby paired with an adult xxxxxxxxxxxx

I remember when you got these little guys........i was hoping all would go well :{
How big is the cage, the only reason i ask is ....have they got room to be away from each other? piggies do like their own space at times :)
Sorry to hear they're being rascals, boars will be quite hormonal to :p
Can you try bathing and cleaning out the cage and putting them on a clean new towel somewhere different and see how they react?
Wishing you all the best xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Have you got the money to take Simon to the vets for his lump, as he needs to bee seen by one pretty quickly?

It is normal that the two remaining piggies will have to sort out the dominance between them when you take the leader out; that goes for both genders.

Give both Alvin and Theodore a bath with the same shampoo and the reintroduce them on neutral ground (kitchen floor, if they can't hide anywhere, or bathtub/bathroom floor with an old towel on the ground for footing.) If the two are staying within the bounds of acceptable behaviour, let them get on with it; but make sure they are where you can keep a close eye on them for at least 4-5 hours. For boar behaviour look here: http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=28949

If the two are getting into bloody fights, you will have to separate them, and it would be better in this case, if you signed both Simon and Theodore over to a rescue, and tried to rebond Alvin at the rescue under the supervision of an expert.

I hope that helps!

thanks so much fr the help, I'm cleaning them out now anyway may give them aths too as it is hot.. i put a towl down on the living room carpet and the top it of their cage for them to run around in. ill see if that helps.. then i have to do my 2 girlies too lol!

after touching my girls i have always washed my hands and arms before touching boys so it cant be anything like that..

with some boars even the distant scent of females will make them fight,so make sure they are very far from the girls

I don't have any advice as i don't have boars only sows. But I did want to say i hope it works out for alvin and simon, it's important to have more than one isn't it?

Good luck with the bath and neutral territory! I will have my fingers crossed for you.

Please make sure that the lump gets seen by a vet; if it is an abscess , it can burst and kill the piggy!

right ok ill move the boys away from the girls. just done both of their cages. now the girls are on the carpet with cage over top of them sleeping on the ice packs.. and boys are out on the grass in run sleeping on ice packs.. hall loo you!

I agree with everyone else, Simon's lump really needs to get checked out by a vet. If you plan to keep two boys I totally agree with bathing them in the same shampoo and then putting them somewhere that neither of them have been before (plus well away from your girls), lots of fresh cut grass and food also helps as it gives the boys something else to focus on. Good luck, but please visit the vets!

i will definatly visit the vets...

i gave all the boys a bath and put them someone they have never been, now their just laying there together but they keep on nibbling the cage bars lol!

trying to rehome theodore & I'm trying to get hold of laybourne rpsca to see if they have any room for simon...

another thing.. i give them parsley... peppers.. cucumber & all sorts of fresh stuff & they never touch it!

VERY STRANGE for piggie

That guinea pigs that have never been fed fresh stuff, will not touch it?

Unfortunately, this happens all too often, and you have to treat them like you would a human child faced with a plate of healthy green stuff at school dinner time - one veg at a time; leave it lying round for a day and serve it a week later again, for as long as it takes!

Unfortunately, your boys are all in the hormonal phase when breakups are most frequent, because each wants to be the most manly man... The presence of girls won't help! Neither does a small cage, as they need to be able to get as foar away from each other as possible and have everything in twos, bowls, bottles, huts.

yupp, they have two bowls and 2 ewater bottles already :)

they also have a tunnel that alvin always sleeps in :)

i think were still going to serparet them & get alvin a little baby :)

Be aware that you can have the same problem again when "baby" hits the hormones at 4-6 months old!

ohh noooooo.. just put them all back in their cages & the boys have started doing it again!

grrr does anyone know any rescue centres in kent.. maidstone way/ medway?

iv had enough!

i try to help..... dont work :'(

PLEASE TAKE SIMON & THEODORE ANYONE :'(

thank you :)

i phone walderslade rspca up and they had no space till the weekend(gtta phone back then)

Laybourne didnt answer for 3 hours!

just called arpil lodge and he said phone back at 6 to see if they collect the piggie :)... hopefully I'm in some luck :)

Best of luck - please remember that most rescues are understaffed and overworked!
