a boar of mine, Sierra, has randomly taken a really funny turn in the past 12 hours and i cannot figure out the cause. he's been refusing food and extremely lethargic, which is hugely out of character for him because he's under a year old and usually very hyper and feisty. he's fluffed up and hunched over like he's sick and occasionally crying like hes in pain but with no obvious cause. i can't see any injuries or signs of illness, nor can i feel anything wrong with his body. there aren't any other symptoms i can see. he's walking fine when prompted. his buddy is fine and apparently completely unfazed by the occasional pained squeaks right next to him. has anyone else ever had a pig take an abrupt funny turn with no discernable cause? literally any stories or advice helps.
(+if it's at all relevant, he's a satin. i wasn't aware of satin syndrome when i got him but, having prompted the breeder after the fact, his family tree apparently has no history of satin syndrome. he is six months old though, which i believe is the minimum age for symptoms to start showing)

I’m sorry to hear this

These are symptoms of any illness so it is important you follow all emergency advice. Whether this is related to satin syndrome is for a vet to determine.

The important thing is that you step in to prevent stasis and see a vet as an emergency.

Please immediately step in with syringe feeding a recovery feed (or mushed pellets as the emergency alternative if you don’t have recovery feed).

Make sure you switch from the normal weekly weight checks and instead weigh him every morning so you can be sure he is getting enough syringe feed to keep his weight stable.

I hope he is ok

Please take him to see a vet as this is an emergency. Guinea pigs don't show pain unless there is something seriously wrong. Do you have a vet who will treat him? I hope things work out OK ❤️🙏

Sending Sierra healing vibes. Good luck at the vets. I hope he’s ok.
