I was grooming the smaller of my new (got them Saturday) piggies and I noticed a little bump under the fur on her back. I delved in to see what was there and it was this.... it's not a scab and the skin doesn't appear to be broken, but this little area is raised and red...... any ideas what it could be?

NB, it doesn't seem to be bothering her and they are both booked in for a vet-check tomorrow morning, where I'll mention it.

Hmm, it kind of looks like scar tissue to me?
The vet will be able to find it for you though :)

It is a little hard to see from the photo. It may be where her skin has healed after a scratch. The back is a common area for piggies to scratch themselves and cause damage if they have mites.

Different to say! Perhaps try gently pulling the hair emedatly around the sight!
If it comes out, without much resistance with dead skin atached ! then could be a fungal problem

I combed her around the site and no hair came out, and no flakes of skin either. I will ask the vet to look at it when I take her in tomorrow morning.

Vet said probably scar tissue and probably permanent. He also found lice..... so we're disinfecting the cage today and giving all new bedding
