Hi everybody,

I have been reading this forum for months and so far it has been a gold mine. However, I couldn't find a similar thread, so I must ask.

I just noticed my Piki (1 and 1/2 year old boar) eating about 5-6 of his own poops and then I noticed these 2 (photo attached), which are way smaller than his usual droppings. (I put a normal one besides for reference).

Should I be worried?

PS: Please note that I've seen him poop normal just minutes before these ones.

Thanks

It is completely normal for pigs too eat their poop because it isn't poop! They have 2 types of poop. One is normal poop like ours, sorta. And the other is almost like cud for guinea pigs. It is plant matter and vitamins that either didn't get absorbed or digested completely and is eaten again for max nutritional intake.

For the smaller poops. not sure what to tell you.

Thanks !

UPDATE: Piki is back to normal, turns out he was a bit dehydrated so I gave him a bit of water with a syringe and gave him an extra portion of cucumber.
