Morning All.

I spotted a small orangey/yellowy tiny mite type thing on one of our new babies a few days ago, and ordered some spot on treatments from Vet UK (i use them to get frontline for the cats).

Trouble is, it appears that the stuff they have is for guineas weighing 800g+. Our babies are half this. Is it okay to dispence just half the tube?

The instructions dont mention this one way or another, and i can not find a similar product for babies?

Any suggestions gratefully received!

Thank you.

Hi Syann,

Did you buy Xeno 450? There is a product for smaller/younger piggies, which is Xeno 50.

I am unsure how effective ivermectin (active ingredient in Xeno) is against lice. Mites are microscopic, so it is most likely that what you saw were lice, since these are visible. Lice would need treatment by shampooing. The most popular lice treatment shampoo is Lice 'n' Easy by Gorgeous Guineas - you can buy from www.gorgeousguineas.com. With this, you bathe once a week for 2-3 weeks as instructed.
