Hi Guys. Can you help or give us some advice. Our mini guinea is completely off colour! For the past week he has been lethargic, extremely quiet, doesn't squeak when you talk to him, almost appears to be depressed. Anyone got any tips for us or had any similar experience?

Look forward to hearing your comments.

Cheers

Marcus

You should take him to a vet asap as guineas can go down hill very quickly. I would suggest you syringe him water every couple of hours and tempt him to eat with his favourite foods. If that doesn't work then crush his normal dry food and mix with small amount of water and syringe feed him that. One other thing to try is vegetable baby food.

Is he sitting facing the corner all fluffed up? That's always a danger sign that they're not good and need prompt vet help.

Otherwise, is he on his own? He may need company. If not, is he being bullied by a cagemate? Even if it's not physical bullying (ie aggression) they can still be bullied by not letting the other guinea get to the food, water bottles, hidey holes etc... is there plenty of space, toys, places to hide or burrow etc?

If he isn't eating you need to syringe feed him and get him to a vet as soon as really.

If he is on his own he may be lonely or being bullied.

Hope he is ok.

i would take him to the vet for a check up even if it is to ease your own mind, making sure your vet knows about piggies. perhaps your piggy is lonely, or has sore teeth. has there been any changes in diet or anything concerning him like change of bedding, bowls etc? hoping your little furry friend gets better soon, welcome to the forums from me and the girls from oz. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: sending hugs and healing vibes :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: girls send :-* :-* :-*

sounds like lonliness to me, but I could be wrong?
