New Born Pup
Hi all
I just thought I would give you a quick update about Salt. Unfortunatley he died yesterday afternoon 8...
I took him to a vet reccommended by someone on here and they were absolutley fantastic, not sure where I got up to in my previous thread titled Weight Question...... I took him to my normal vet last Wednesday (21st) as I could tell he still wasn't right and they referred me to a vet in Shiffnal, the earliest appointment they could give me was Monday just gone (26th) and told me to start his medicenes up again until then and also gave me some more critical care to give him if he stopped eating. However, by Thursday evening he wasn't eating normal food) at all again, trying to and squeeking for food but just physically couldn't he wouldn't even take the critical care (I don't think he liked it very much) he was just drinking water out of a bowl.
Thursday night I managed to give him a little bit of critical care, but wouldn't take too much
. So, Friday morning I rang the vets in wombourne reccommended by someone on here and they told me to bring him in straight away as he wasn't eating, which I did, I left him with them and they filed his teeth again and removed some old food bits that had gotten stuck in his teeth. Saturday & Sunday he seemed to perk up a bit but by Sunday evening he stopped eating again and looked very unhappy. so Monday morning I took him back to the Wombourne Vets and Bonnie (who is a lovely vet and would definatly reccommend) had anothe look at him, I mentioned I though his 2 front teeth were a little to longer and the one looked a bit sharp , as I said this she said she was about to say the exact same thing, so they kept him in for the day to monitor him and try syringe feeding him and also to file his front teeth and when I picked him up Monday evening he seemed a little brighter and apparently had eaten some dandlion leaves for the Vets (so I was keeping my fingers crossed everything was fixed) Unfortunatley by 10pm ish he had gone downhill again and very weak, he just wanted cuddles all the time and couldn't really keep his head up very well, I tried syringe feeding him, put veggies in his cage but he just wouldn't eat, I think he had had enough by this point. So Monday night I kept them separate so I could monitor his eating and by Tuesday morning it looked like he had eaten something and was quite bright again however, through the day he got worse, my boyfriends little sister (who is only 10) looked after him all day (as she was off school sick) cuddleing him, trying to feed him and give him water but I think he fought enough and about 3 o clock ish yesterday afternoon he passed away, there is a sort of relief in me that he's not suffering anymore, it was so horrible to see him wanting to eat but couldn;t had just being so tired all the time
My boyfriends little sister was heartbroken she didnt stop crying until she wen to bed last night bless her.
Oh yes, the vet did say she thought his breathing was very raspy and thought he may have also had a respiratory disease, so I am wondering if this was part of his reason for not getting better.
Sorry for such a long note, howver, just wanted to let you all know. Peppers going to be lots of hugs and cuddles now to console him bless him.
