Sorry if this is the wrong thing or place, I don't know how to use this forum so I apologise in advance!
After my last post I have been doing some thinking thanks to your wonderful help and advice and I'm wondering if this is a good idea.
Neuter tigger who's one year and a few months, then take him dating to find a pair of sows. Reason is I don't want to have them in pairs anymore because of the horrible stress it causes when one is left alone. I would put tigger with the two girls I already have but one of them absolutely hates him. Literally like if I smell of him or something smells of him she attacks it and when she can see him she runs at the bars like she wants to kill him :0 teeth chattering and really angry.
Take the two girls dating to find a neutered boar, so they aren't a pair anymore but are a trio.
Is this a good idea? I would be doing the dating where you take them to a rescue to meet new guineas :) many thanks X

Sounds like a good plan to me... just remember the cost though, I went from having 3 guinea pigs to having 7 and have noticed a massive difference! :)

I am the same though, I never wanted a pair because if something happens to one, I would not like to leave the other alone for long. :( I now have 5 sows and 2 boars...

Yes, the cost will be a big jump but I can manage it. I need as many people to say it is a good idea and the best plan for my piggies as possible as even though I pay for them all I need my dads permission. Do you have any ideas on how I could show him that this is the best plan for them? :)

:D Am I right in thinking that you have two females and one intact boar, Tigger, and one of the females hates Tigger? Does the other female get on with him all right? Could you perhaps get Tigger seen to and pair him with the nice girl? And then take the nasty girl to find another boar that she does like? I know this would leave you with two pairs, but if you keep them in adjacent cages, no-one will be left alone if one dies. And the nasty girl might have changed her ways after having her own boar for a few years.

Yes I'm afraid I agree with @7squeakers. as caring for them and the cost of keeping them and vet bills etc is more with every piggy you have.

I would have Tigger neutered and then after 6 weeks you could try putting him with the sow who does not seem to be bothered by him and see if they get along.

I had one of my boars who was extremely aggressive and moody neutered about 3 months ago now when he was about 10 months old. It has made a difference as he is still moody at times but is no longer aggressive and I have put him with 2 of my girls.

There was no problem at all with him and the procedure other than he was sore and a bit sorry for himself for a few days.
The other sow may be more dominant and therefore may clash with Tigger for whatever reason. Unfortunately like humans we don't always get along with everyone :lol!:

So then you could look to get her a mate which would give you 2 pairs and have them adjacent to each other like @7squeakers advised.

Hmm that may work! But the girls are sisters and absolutely love each other, they've been together since birth :( x

Yes haha! I'm just worried that splitting up the girls would be a bad move as they love each other to bits and are sisters :( x

Why don't you just pair Tigger with one sow and leave the girls as they are. It's not great when they pass but it means your not jumping to 6 piggies. You can always add more piggies in the future.

I would just get tigger done and pair him up with a new sow. You can rejig if circumstances dictate. It is scary how much the cost jumps when you add more in veg and hay alone and that's without vets bills
