I had to take Arnold back to the vets today.
His eye hasn't improved all that much. It went crusty on sunday and yesterday it went a little "lazy" and was half closed for most of the day.
So I got him to the vets today.

The vet was very impressive. He gave Arnold a proper examination with the tools he had on hand. I was in there for a good 30 minutes.
He managed to get some particles out of his eye but he said he thinks there's still something in there.
I've been given stronger eyedrops with anti-allergy stuff in them.
Mr. Vet also washed Arnolds eye while we were there. And I've been told to do this every day to make sure that if his eye stays a little crusty, none of the crust gets lodged inside his eye and makes it worse.

Arnold was very well behaved...Until the end. He'd had enough of being prodded in the eye with a cotton bud and he tried to bite me and when that failed...He tried to bite the vet. :{

So he's still got a bad eye but I hope it will improve.
He has a check up next week and if it's still bad, they're going to have to examine him properly.
It's kind of expensive but he's worth every penny. I just hope these eyedrops do the trick. I don't want him to be poked and prodded anymore. :(

Best of luck with poor Arnold! I really hope that his eye will heal up now!

Poor Arnold. Hope thats him on the road to recovery now. I'm glad he was unsuccessful in his attempts to bit you both. He sounds as though he was a very good boy letting the vet do his examination. Come on Arnold. You can do it little man!

Aww poor boy, hope these drops work!
I missed your original post about this so forgive me if i am way off base, but what bedding do you have him on? One of my girls got a slightly runny/crusty eye and the vet thought it was down to her bedding (she was on aubiose) as her general health was fine. I changed to megazorb but again thats quite dusty so have now changed to fleece today. I'm hoping it will stop now.
Fingers crossed Arnold makes a full recovery! x

Awww... well done Arnold for not losing your temper sooner. I'd bite any vet who tried to prod my eye too (am a bit over-squeamish about my eyes). Hope you feel better soon. x

I use fleece on 3/4 of the cage and have hay and newspaper on the other 1/4.
The vet looked at me like I was a loon when I told him I used fleece. :{

Arnolds eye is looking very good today. It's slightly pink but you can hardly see. I had to get up real close to notice it.
He's being very naughty, though. He keeps closing his eye when I go to put his drops in. I have to be really firm with him to get them in there :( it's for his own good, I know...But I still feel mean for having to be like that.

I am so glad that beautiful Arnold is getting better; not wanting to be medicated is usually a good indicator that a piggy is perking up (even if it makes your job a lot harder!)

Another Update*

His eye is looking amazing!
I went back to the vets and he "signed him off" so he thinks Arnold is all clear now.

I was so happy. When I was walking out of the vets office, he poked his head out of the door and called to the receptionist "This one is free of charge!" and then he looked at me and said "You take care now."

I was so happy to finally meet someone who wants MORE than money.
He constantly mentioned how clean Arnold was and how tame he was...And even mentioned how he's seen so many Guinea Pigs who get treated poorly.
I am NEVER going back to my old vets ever again. The care Arnold got was just amazing.
And now my little boy is all better. I was told to watch out still but hopefully his eye won't go bad again. xx>>>

That guy is amazing and in return for what he did for my little boy, I will tell all my friends about that place.

So I will also tell you guys here! Although I don't think any of you live near me!

Ark Vets, Pinhoe, Exeter, Devon
