Cuddles (formerly known as 'Killer Pig'!) is settling in well and I'm now sure that she can only hear very high pitched noises (my telephone gets a reaction, and she seems to be able to hear the others pigs wheeking for their veg, but not much else). I'm not sure how much, if anything, she can see, but she more than makes up for this by sniffing and licking everything.
She is startled by anything going into her cage - hands, food scoop - so I now open the cage door quite heavily so that she can feel the vibration (it's a metal cage) and she comes over to get the veg!
She has learnt to go into the Cozie (thanks Pollie!) to be picked up and put back in her cage rather than having to be handled. She is so confident once she is out, last night I was on the sofa with Henry my labrador and she snuggled up against him and went to sleep! x)
Here she is:
She will still not accept any other pigs but I will keep trying, gently. She is not yet on the rehoming list as I don't want to send her to a home as a single piggy if she could eventually find a friend here.
