Cuddles (formerly known as 'Killer Pig'!) is settling in well and I'm now sure that she can only hear very high pitched noises (my telephone gets a reaction, and she seems to be able to hear the others pigs wheeking for their veg, but not much else). I'm not sure how much, if anything, she can see, but she more than makes up for this by sniffing and licking everything.

She is startled by anything going into her cage - hands, food scoop - so I now open the cage door quite heavily so that she can feel the vibration (it's a metal cage) and she comes over to get the veg!

She has learnt to go into the Cozie (thanks Pollie!) to be picked up and put back in her cage rather than having to be handled. She is so confident once she is out, last night I was on the sofa with Henry my labrador and she snuggled up against him and went to sleep! x)

Here she is:

She will still not accept any other pigs but I will keep trying, gently. She is not yet on the rehoming list as I don't want to send her to a home as a single piggy if she could eventually find a friend here.

I'm pleased she's lost her rep as 'Killer pig', I think she's beautiful. You've been so patient with her and I hope you manage to bond her with a friend. Good luck. x

Aw aka Killer pig is no longer a killer ;).

What about a neuter boar, she maybe more likely to accept them?

If anyone can find her a friend I'm sure you can! :)

I think Cuddles suits her much better than the old name :)) Lovely to hear she's getting on so well with you, and I do hope she lets another piggie be her friend.

AWW - I am glad that Cuddles now has a lovely name, a cuddly place and is settling in well.

I think she's just terrified when another pig approaches, whether a boar or a sow... because she can't see or hear them, it must be scary for her. Was planning on gradual introductions during cuddle time, considering neutering Yoda so maybe he will love her.

Sophie, she is so gorgeous!
I wish I was a bit closer to you as I'd love to give this girl a home! I am sure eventually she will find a friend, well done for giving her a chance :)

Aw bless her socks. Hospital wing here always open if you decide to get Yoda done and don't fancy all the travelling in one day if not tea and chats available while you wait :)) Bear the new boy in is going in for his bits off friday.

Glad she now has a safe place and is getting lots of TLC. I can just imagine her suggled up with Henry ................xx>>>

Glad to hear she is settling down. What a sweetheart she looks..

ahh bless her she looks soooooo cute.hope she finds her forever home real soon.:<>

She is gorgeous and you are doing a great job with her. I have to say a tear came to my eye when i read what you said about her, she's a very special piggie :)

A miracle has occured! Teresa and I have both tried to find Cuddles a friend but she won't accept anyone when confined in a cage -however, I tried her in my big group (wasn't holding out much hope it would work) and she pottered around, found her bearings (and the food!) and seems absolutely fine. I think having the space really helps her as she doesn't feel so threatened. Wonders never cease!

She has probably had some bad experiences in closed spaces, but I am so chuffed for Cuddles and for you that she has company and is happy again!

That is just FANTASTIC!! I am so pleased for her :) She may find a special friend within the group eventually when she builds up more confidence :) Awwwwwwwwww you will have to try and get some piccies of her in the group, would love to see her with the others :)

That is fab news! Does that mean she will be staying with you?
