As you know my lovely George came home from the rodentologist just before xmas. It was lovely to have him home and I kept a close eye on him. Unfortunately, 4 days later he stopped eating again. I tried to get him to eat but nothing would persuade him. I couldn't get him back to the rodentologist until 27th December which was 2 weeks away :-\. I made sure he didn't go hungry though and he had regular syringe feeds and his fave baby food :)

On 27th December he went back to the rodentologist to find that even in that short space of time his teeth had gone completely haywire again. They were as surprised as I was and couldn't believe they had got so bad. I had to leave him with them again. This time though, he will have to stay for months if not forever :'( . He has to stay for long enough for them to see how fast they grow and what can be done, if anything, to slow down the growth. They said that usually, if the teeth are as bad as his are, they would suggest he was PTS but as they know and love him so much they will keep him so that he can have his teeth trimmed as often as he needs them done.

At the moment he is eating teeny bits by himself but not near enough and has had to have his teeth trimmed 3 times since he's been there. :( It's looking like he won't be able to come home at all as I wouldn't be able to sustain his health. However, he has found himself not one but 2 girlfriends ::). he snuggles up with Blossom at syringe feed time and lives with Lizzie at night. 8) I know that he's in the piggy equivalent of Xanadu where he is but I miss him so much. I can't be selfish though and I would rather he be alive and healthy.

That leaves poor Mildred on her own. Usually she's not that bothered but I do think she's lonely because she keeps talking to me ;D She never does that ;D. So a boyfriend has been found for her on the understanding that when/if George comes home he will be returned. If G doesn't come home I will keep the new little boy.

Sorry I've waffled on. ::)

Debbie, you know how sad I am about darling George.

Always thinking about him and you x

I know you are darling. The beautiful picture you drew me really cheered me up after I'd stopped crying (happy tears) ;D
Thank you my dear friend :-*

Oh me too. They will do their best. He really is with the best people for the job. Of course, I could take him home anytime I wanted but I just wouldn't be able to keep him healthy. Its a 3 hour round trip to the rodentologist and I don't drive. And I'm not letting a vet near him.

I'm so glad. I thought Mildred might be furious to be left out ;D

Sorry to hear this news Debbie, I am thinking of you and George. It must be very hard for you... it really sounds heartbreaking. Hope he does have some time left and that one day he might return. Hugs x

sounds as if you really did'nt have much choice to keep him well and alive, thats a very unselfish thing you have done sweetheart, hope Mildred finds comfort with her new mate , a think a lot of us might have had to do the same thing at least once in our lives but never got the chance, good luck hope he gets better but once teeth go haywire thats normally the way for good, hope this time I'm wrong though

So sorry Debbie. It takes courage to do what you have done - what is best for George. I can only praise you for that.

Fingers crossed that something can be done so he can go back to his family. Hugs at this difficult time.

awwww I'm so sorry about hear about George not being well again :(

Thank you so much for all your lovely messages. He's certainly a lucky little pigger to have so many lovely people wishing him well. :)

I will get to visit him every few months or so and I will get regular updates about him. But I'm never ever going to let go of the hope that we will one day be able to come home :)

I'm so sorry to hear this Debbie. I'm thinking of you at this difficult time.

Hugs to you and george

Debbie i'm sending you and George heaps of kisses :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
I hope you get to see him often and cuddle him
I wish we had this facility here for Duke as he is in the same boat as George :'(
so i'm going to send extra prayers to ask that they both are looked after :-* :-*

Thank you so much :)

Glynis I will be thinking of poor Dukey and sending him healing wishes. I really do feel for you. You're doing your best and Duke knows that you love him so much :-*

What a heartbreaking decision for you Debbie but I so admire your strength in making the right choice for George.

C and T are amazing people and I know he will live like a prince with them.

How is Mildred taking to her new partner?

Thanks Kate.
We're going to meet Mildred's new man on 28th Jan. I just hope she likes him. Apparently he's quite shy so she'll be able to boss him about. She'll like that ;D

I must say, I was a bit worried that people will think that I have just abandoned George and given up on him. It really means a lot to me to have so much support from everyone. Thank you so much :-*

Mildred's new friend is kindly being donated by Deb. Hopefully, if Mildred likes him, Thistle will be coming to stay to keep her company.

Thank you Debbie for trusting me with your piggy. :-*

Seconded

Debbie I am so so sorry about this. You must feel so sad but dont ever think that anyone here has anything other than the utmost respect for you and the decision you have had to make.

I think you are in North london too so pm me if you ever want to meet for a coffee or something to talk things through x
