So i went to see her tonight. when i got down she was in her house.

When i lefted her house an she ran off i noticed fresh red blood i felt sick. i called my bf in and we got her on my knee.

She wasnt impressed. she bit and nibbled but i didnt let go....she even broke the skin so i blew in her face and got the 'omg i cant believe * just did that look'.

I fully checked her everywhere...eats,nose, feet, bum, underneath and no sign of blood or a cut....an then i spottet it a tiny cut inbetween on of her back toes. i left it alone as it wasnt bleeding no more.

I fully checked her fur for mits or cuts/scabs due to her reacting to our touch yday but found nothing. Altho shes not as freaky outty as she was yday.

While she was still sat on my knee...to annoy delilah even more we braved it and gave her toe nails a trim for the first time.....

5 nails down and all good and Madam was behaving munching on cucumber....then disaster....my bf cut her last night an she moved just as he cut down an because of this resulted in a lil too much off and a bleeding toe nails. Poor little girl. The bleeding finally stopped so we put her off my knee....noisey lil madam wheeeeeked the kitchen down with excitement to be off my knee.

We put her back in her cage an we was as hyper as ever. she was licking her toe though....bf feels terrible as we literally took the tips off but the sudden moved spoilt it.

Checked on her on the way out...no blood an she was happily sleeping on her fleece! :)

Wriggly piggies are just the worst! I've caught the tips of my piggies toes I think.. 3 times now in 4 years and although I feel that isnt alot (because the toes are black) I always react like every incident is a crime! "Gaaah! What have I done?!?"

Hope her toes heal up quick! Be extra careful about her sitting in wet/ poopey hay or fleece! Foot infections are difficult to patch up I find.

:)

oh bless. glad you are all OK now...I tend to do my piggies and dogs nails at intervals, be it only one or two at a time less traumatic all round.

I will b keeping a close eye on her cuts.

She does wee and poo in her house as her 'main' toilet but it gets cleaned daily because otherwise shed stink to high heaven :-P

Oh do not worry. I have cut my gangs nails too short before. It is so difficult when they move.

I know exactly how you feel. I've only once made one of my girls bleed when cutting their nails. It was Minky & I felt terrible, she had such an indignant look on her face as if to say 'why did you do that?'. It was OK soon after as once the bleeding stopped she healed very quickly. I'm probably over cautious now & cut a little, often. They're all pretty good & I think that they've learned that after the nail clipping they get a treat, fresh grass etc.

I wouldn't worry too much about cutting their nails too short. It happens to all of us, with mine it just seems to be two of the girls that I seem to catch. One of them is a right wriggle-bum and the other has thick curly nails which makes it more difficult to do.

Rosie doesn't make much of a fuss, just hold a tissue to the nail with some pressure until the bleeding stops, Ruby on the other hand, I have only managed to catch her once or twice She cries like a baby and made me feel really bad. It soon stopped and she got over it with some veggies.

Think we have all been there, one of my last piggies was a tinker for moving when i was clipping his nails. I'm just glad i don't have to cut my chinchillas nails now that would end in disaster :))
