I wasnt' sure where to post this, but following my disaster story of letting my friend breed from Max, his kids, Dobby and Lola are now 3 weeks and 4 days old. Dobby is still in with mum as at 3 weeks he was only 119g so way under breeding weight (i hope we got that right). But by hook or by crook he's being separated on saturday (4 weeks 1 day - or sooner if any funny business is seen) and hopefully will bond with daddy max.

Its been a rollarcoaster and such a stressful experience - the mating caused my two boys to fall out, the babies were born tiny, at 39g. But a miracle has occured and they have both made it this far with no supplimenting needed - Lola was a whopping 136g at the weekend. And Dansak is now happily living with Potter (so far so good) so I'm happy that all being well I may end up with 4 piggies. Never ever to be repeated though - and everyone else, learn from my mistake. Even though all seems to be well, it could well have been very different.

now just have to pray that the intros go well with Max and Dobby. I'm really really excited though. Dobby is chocolate brown and ginger with one white foot. Cute....

Hi love, i'm very glad it's working out ok :)
Sounds like it's been a pretty stressful time....as you said you've learnt a hard lesson!
Would love for you to post some pigtures in the stories section soon x)
GOOD LUCK WITH THE BONDING XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXx
remember if you need help just ask, don't forget whee have a good thread up the top on bonding and rebonding.

I am so glad that the babies are making it all! Best of luck with the intros on Saturday. Dobby is still very small; make sure that he is eating and drinking fully on his own before you introduce him to dad and monitor his weight daily. Make sure that he has unlimited (if necessary mushed up) pellets and/or stale bread cubes soaked in full fat milk.

He is eating guinea pig museli just fine and is drinking happily from the water bottle. He has also had hay and veg so we have no concerns. I'll have some pellet mush in there as well just in case. Mum is beginning to ignore them/push them away a bit more so he is ready to be weaned. We're nervous about separating him when he's still so small, but he'll be 29 days old and we're worried about their being a freak accident with mum or sister if we leave it any longer. If he is still tiny are we best to wait til the weekend after (5 weeks sounds risky to me!) If it was anyone other than me he'd be staying with my friend until 6 or 8 weeks, but we feel that introducing him to max now will give us the best chance of a smooth intro and its better than Dobby being on his own. Will be sure to post if i get stuck on intros. I normally do it outside in the run but now its so cold and wet, would the bath with towels down be ok?
