Update on scarlet

Please dont worry - we can merge but its just easier if you just post on this thread.

How much weight has she lost in total? This is an important question.

How much syringe feed are you getting into her each day? If she loses daily then she needs more feed each day. She needs 60ml per day - anything less just isn’t enough to stop her weight loss.

How old is she?

Please don’t separate her yet. You need to try the meds and give them time to work first. This could be a medical issue with no clear symptoms as yet and separating her now may cause too much stress to her and make her worse if there is not a bond issue
You Only separate if the meds don’t help - we can help you with potential separation at a later stage.

Hello
I’m so sorry about lots of threads. I’m old and I’m absolutely useless, I don’t know my way round a computer at all. I really need to do a computer class. I have been weighing her daily and it continues to drop. I will try the separation and the new medication. Once again, Thankyou for your advice and guidance. It’s much appreciated
You are not useless 💐

Hello
She is 4 we think ( she was from a local rescue), I’ve bought new scales and she has definitely lost 100g since last week. The vet knows this. I will try and get more into her. I am only managing around 30 mls at the minute. She is eating well and excited for her veggies.

That is a lot of weight to have lost.
She really does need 60ml. I know it can be hard but she will continue to lose weight if she doesn’t get enough. 40ml is the absolute minimum for survival when they aren’t eating enough hay but it is not likely to be enough for weight maintenance.

It’s good she has appetite for veggies but they only make 20% of her food intake needs so it isn’t where near enough

Is she still on the Metacam?

@Ridingscarlet
Is there anybody who could help you with syringe-feeding? I used not to get enough into my guineas either and sometimes got help from friends with small animals. That eased the feeling of pressure on me...

She isn’t on the metocam anymore. The vet put her on that in case she had teeth problems. I’ve observed them today and haven’t witnessed no bullying. I haven’t got anyone to help unfortunately.
