Some of you have read about how I found two piggies huddled in the undergrowth in the open countryside behind our house and how I took them home and set them up here. (The introduction 'Unexpectedly a piggie owner' tells the story. Well, the story continues!

I was walking the pooches on Thursday when I met a sweet, very wet dog. After his owner had apologised (unnecessarily!), she said, 'Oh! Are you the lady who found the guinea pigs?' Well, to cut a long story a bit shorter (I'll probably blog about it! :) ) her friend had had her pigs in the garden when her phone went. She went indoors to answer it and when she came out the piggies had gone! She and her daughters were very upset and worried for a couple of days, thinking that the buzzards had taken them, but when she heard (from the two women Johnny and I had met on our way home with the pigs, and whom I'd told about them) that we'd found them and that they were safe, she was happy! They'd forgotten where I said I lived, and the police, whom she phoned, said that a woman had called them about finding two pigs, but they didn't have any details (so my name, address, home phone number and mobile number must have gone missing off their files!)

At that point, the two women came along! You can imagine how we all squeaked in amazement! Well, the first woman said she was absolutely positive that her friend would be happy for me to have the piggies! Her daughters were about to start secondary school and were losing interest! :( I gave her my phone number, so the pigs’ owner could phone me, but have heard nothing from her!

It was a very long way for the pigs to have wandered. I'm wondering if someone has nipped in and swiped them... Strange...

Anyway, I await a phone call.....

Oh deary me.....i hope the call never comes:x. Something sounds little ominous to me though or am I just looking for excuses so they can stay with you?
FYI- dont excite sad piggy lovers with titles including "update" I clicked expecting some scrummy piggy photo's he he!:(|):(|)

Oh my god! Well how could they both escape like that? Even if they want them back I think you should keep them. They have a much better life with you.

Yeah, bit iffy to me! Just don't pick the phone to numbers you don't recognise! :x

Wow what a surprise to find the original owners. From what the woman said it sounds like to me the piggies would have a happier life with you if the previous owners daughter no longer has interest.

How anyone can lose interest surprises me though.

Oh, I forgot to mention that bit! All three women said that they thought the piggies were better off with us! They said they must have heard that there was a five-star hotel around and so they wandered off looking for it! :)

Sorry hazeyg! I'll take more photos soon, as the ones I've posted don't do them justice!

Have to go now. We're having cauliflower as one of our veg tonight and DH, who's making dinner today, has just called to say that the ribs and stalk are ready for the piggies! :)

Thought I'd let you see where we found the chaps. This was taken a couple of months ago, but the bottom left hand corner is where we found them and the housing estate where they came from is over the horizon of the photo...

You can just see the white houses in the distance.

:x best not say another word had I !

Give them some little kisses and loves from the girls and I XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

When we have had an escaped piggy while caravanning the farthest they have gone is 5 yards. Once they are in cover they stayed put.

Yeah, I dont imagine scared piggies to wonder about.....more like hide in the nearest bush and not move. Also I dont think they would be alove had they wondered in such an open area, a predator is bound to have caught them- KEEP THEM KEEP THEM. Poor little piggies.

That location doesn't look like the piggies are wanted back... mallethead Guinea pigs would never cross so much open space!

Great that they have found you and the chance of a happy new life!

My goodness that's an awful long way! I hope you get to keep hold of them, we can all tell already that you love them so very much :) x

Our thoughts exactly, about the space they appeared to have covered, though if they were taken and dumped... What's weird is that she hasn't phoned! I feel as if I'm in a bit of a state of limbo. Did they take my phone number down properly, I wonder? If they did, she can't be all that keen on knowing how her piggies are getting on. And yet her friend said she was upset until she heard that someone had found them. Maybe her friend told her that she'd said to me that the owner would probably give me all her piggies stuff and she'd rather sell them... I just don't know...

Anyway, their C&C cage arrived today, so DS and I will build that up tomorrow and try to give them some floor time. (He's at work today. DH and I CANNOT do DIY together! He is totally handless and hashy (though a dear, sweet man! :) ) whereas DS and I work well together. :) )

Oh great to hear the c and c cage is to be made soon. Please do not worry about that woman. They are yours now and there is nothing she can do about it. They were clearly dumped.
