Hello! Just thought I'd update everyone on how the girls are doing.

They're gaining weight very well as far as I can tell

Nutmeg 753
Scarlett 751
Pom pom 736

They're 8 months old roughly. They wheek like mad whenever I come in the door or they hear something rustle.

Still a bit shy, have to be caught to pick them up but seem to appreciate a cuddle. I get them out in the garden as often as I can which isn't much but they're quite happy out there.

Nutmeg is looking a bit scruffy but I don't want to bathe her unnecessarily. Do any other which pig owners regularly bathe theirs?

Other than that all is well!

Thanks for all your help in the past 👍

Sorry, I don’t know your previous posts but they are beautiful! 😍You look like you’re doing a good job 🙂

Aw they're so cute. My boys get a bath every few months because they have long hair and it gets quite dirty at the back even though I keep their cage clean and trim their hair regularly. It's a two person job because they don't enjoy it and quite often jump out of the basin even though the water isn't deep and it doesn't take long. We use a basin on the floor for this with about an inch of lukewarm water and a couple of tumblers of lukewarm water to rinse the small animal shampoo out once it's been applied.

I only ever give The Ever Beautiful Betsy a bum bath cos she has long fur. She's due another bum bath and bum trim before the weather gets any colder. I must do it in the next week or so. The only time I have bathed all of them was when they had mites and this was at the end of their treatment to make sure that I had all the dead mites off them.

Beautiful girls! Baths should really be on a medical or hygeine need basis, but even our vets are divided on when you decide this- our Piggle has a very active grease gland and one vet said a bum bath every 2 weeks, but another vet said her skin and fur were healthy and although her grease gland was rather greasy, it was within a normal range and she could easily clean it herself if she wanted to but she probably liked wearing rather strong bum perfume...!
Like @Betsy and @Chettsgenie say, if you do decide on a bath, just do the bum, in an inch of warm water in a bucket or washing up bowl placed on the floor and do it before the weather gets cold, a damp piggy can take a surprisingly long time to dry out however many nice clean properly wicked old towels you have on hand (which you will never, ever get all the fur off even for a short haired piggy!) :)

i bath all my piggies twice a year,i use a hairdryer on the longhaired piggies.it is not recommended to bath frequently.i do find my piggies do get used to it.Bum bath is a good compromise.

This is all great advice thank you. I suppose the temptation is to "spoil" them as you would another person or yourself. The reality is they're often frightened little creatures who don't want to be put in a warm smelly puddle completely out of nowhere! That said if they get really stinky or gross fur, it's puddle time 😂
