Rose arrived at The Excellent Adventure Sanctuary, last Monday afternoon. She had made the long journey here from Cardiff thanks to the wonderful Amanda who provided the transport. In addition to not eating due to dental problems it was becoming more and more apparent that there was a problem behind her right eye. She was rushed to Simon on Monday evening rather than wait for her booked appointment on Tuesday. Simon was very concerned about the state of her eye which was bulging and drying out due to the eyelid not closing over it. He filed her teeth and added lubrication to the eye and stitched the eyelid closed. We are hoping that the eye can be saved by doing this.

This morning Rose made a huge step in the right direction. She started to eat for herself! I have just spoken to Kim, her owner, on the phone, who is absolutely over the moon to hear that Rose is making such fantastic progress. She is obviously not out of the woods just yet, but so far so good.

I need to speak to Simon in the morning as her eye has started to open very slightly just to make sure it is ok to be left like this.

Here is a little video of Rose eating.

Aww, that's great news that she is getting better! It just goes to show that people who really care will stop at nothing and not let distance get in the way :))
Get well soon little Rose, and enjoy your food :)

Thank you for taking the time to update us on Rose - It's such a relief to see her eating!

Aww what a pretty girl she is. She eats in a very ladylike way. I am so pleased to hear how well she is doing.

What a beautiful and brave girl she is xoxo
The veggies have her name on it - looks like a little 'R' for Rose in the right corner :(|)
Hope she continues to improve and send vibes for her full recovery x>>

She's so beautiful, and lovely to see her eating like that. I'll wait for the next update, after you've spoken to Simon.

Bless her, fingers crossed that she continues to improve.

Excellent news! Had a rather odd voicemail from Kim earlier today, but so pleased it's good news!

Once again, Debbie has worked her magic and it shows! xx>>>

Fingers firmly crossed that you can get on top of the abscess and well done to you and Simon for making such a difference!

Hi Amanda,

Left a message on your phone, to say Debbie had left me a message and it was good news. Sorry if the message didn't come through. Take care of yourself, great news, your right Debbie is amazing a true Angel x

I took Rose to see Simon this morning as one of the stitches had come loose. Simon removed that stitch and the eye looks much improved. He has left the other one in place for now. He was delighted to hear that she has started eating and he filed her teeth again. He feels hopeful that we can cure her dental issues. She now has eye drops twice a day and will continue on Zithromax for about three weeks. He will see her again next Monday or before if I have any concerns.

ahhhhhhhh good little girlie........oh she loved the parsley.....she sniffed and found that and then nomed away beautifully xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

KEEP ON MUNCHING ROSE XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Rose

Hi everyone, just want to say thank you so much as Rose is coming home on Friday. Both Debbie and Simon have been a godsend, and thanks to Suzi and Amanda for putting me in the right direction.

Rose is eating, her weight is good and her eye is better, Simon the vet said if I had waited another 24 hours he may not have been able to save her eye. So please to all of you out there if your not sure and your vet is not sure what is wrong with your piggie, don't hang about, definately contact Simon, he is amazing, you have to put your trust in Debbie and Simon they do so much for our little piggies. Rose has been away for several weeks now and Debbie is now officially her foster mum, Rose has three daughters living with us here in Cardiff, Lily, Brandi and Miss Scarlett plus little Sid who has been looking after them all whilst Rose has been away. Rose has a best buddy here she is Milly the blind lop eared Rabbit, she will be very happy to have Rose home. THANK YOU DEBBIE, SIMON, SUZI AND AMANDA, you saved Rose life, not enough words to say thank you really.

Rose is seeing Simon for a final check up tomorrow evening at 7.40 pm and then she will be heading home on Friday.

I am going to miss her, but it's such a great feeling to know that another piggie has been saved and can now live a good life.

As many of you know I am feeling very sad and empty after losing Archie yesterday, but it's thanks to all that I have learnt from him, plus Poppet and Wilfie before him, that mean I can help so many others.

Yaaay! So pleased to hear this!

I've been getting regular updates from Debbie about her progress, and I'm so glad the eye was saved!

Rose is a lovely little girl!

Well done Debbie & Simon!

Rose saw Simon this evening. He was delighted with her progress and she will be heading home tomorrow afternoon.

My week started dreadfully with Archie being so poorly and being pts, but knowing we have saved yet another piggie is a great feeling and makes all the hard work worthwhile.

That really is good news. You've done a great job with Rose and it will be lovely for her to be going home again. x

I'm so glad to hear that you have had a little ray of sunshine break through the clouds this week :)

Well Done, you, Simon, and of course Rose xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>
