Upset at what vet has said (bunny related)

That sounds like a negative attitude to go into treatment with, I would be upset too. Dental problems can be severe, but many cases are not and with some supportive syringe feeding and pain meds, your bunny could do very well! I know there are other people here with more experience than me with syringe feeding (and really, I have no knowledge of bunnies anyhow though I have syringe fed hedgehogs and guinea pigs.) I hope he makes a full recovery and proves the vet wrong.

Just caught up with this thread, how is she today?

Sending healing vibes for your poor bunny x>>x>>x>> and hope she's better soon.

That vet needs a slap

shes not good I'm in tears here feels so hopeless, she wont take the syringe feed now just holds it in her mouth, shes given up I know she has, shes just lay there not wanting to do anything, I feel so guilty I should have picked up on this sooner, I dont think shes gonna last the day, keep trying to get water down her and the recovery food but its just tiny amounts each time dont think its enough to keep her going, I'm so so upset 8...

update, took her to the vets as I'm so concerned, thankfully it was a different vet and she was lovely, lopsey was kicking her back legs when she put her back in her carry case and she said shes a lively one and her weight is fine from what it was before, they have taken her in, gave her pain killers and gonna give her something to stimulate her gut and there going to feed her, she said its normally a two man job where as someone can hold her and the others can open her mouth and get her to eat. she also said she will keep the cost down for me try and keep it to a tenner for me as she knows I'm not working and have made a huge effort to find the money for yesterday.

Ive got to go in about dinner time and see how shes going on, I thought I would have to have her put down so prepared myself on the way there but the vet said were not at that stage yet and to give her a chance.

My lord I am SO glad you got her to a vets, my heart dropped when I saw she wasn't eating. So glad that she's in the best possible hands now. Have you had any updates since?

I called round at dinner time and she had taken 10ml of the recovery food off them and the vet said the painkillers are helping, that was nearly 6 hours ago so I hope shes taken more since, picking her up at 6, fingers crossed

Does it then good, she said she managed to syringe it to the back which is something I cant do, she didnt like it but she took it, didnt get any negative from her she was much nicer will let you know when ive got her back what they say, felt sick all day, couldnt stop crying this morning got a terrible headache from it all, hopes she ok when I get her home

You poor thing. I am so sorry you have been through this. I am sure she is going to be better now. I just wish you had somebody who could help syringe feed her as it is impossible to do alone. Be happy now as your little one is in good hands and will soon be well. :)

Thanks hun, shes booked in tomorrow for a check up anyway so if she dont take anymore off me I will ask could they do it again for me nowt like cheek but just want her to feed and they know what there doing where as I dont

This is what made me fall in love with her , these are the pics when she was a baby when I first got her, thought you might wanna see.

Thank you hope this works

Right update on her, shes had 50mls of recovery food and a bit of water, ignored cucumber at the vets but just caught her with some cucumber in her mouth shes just tried a little nibble, The vet has given me more recovery food ,gave her a antibiotic injection, pain relief and an injection to help get her gut moving and only charged me 8 quid for the whole day and everything, this vet is lovely and its trying everything to help me out, shes having a check up tomorrow, just need to give her 20ml of more recover and the vet has shown me where to put the syringe to make it easier, I feel a bit more positive now, I blame the first vet for putting things through my head.

Oh my god! She is adorable! How cute! I want to kiss her.x)x)x)

It sounds like she is doing so well. I am so happy to hear that. The vet is lovely. I think you should make a complaint about the other one as she caused you so much stress.

Shes massive now properly furry and round, yeah I think I might complain and when she gets better gonna send that second vet a thank you card for being so nice, just given her some cucumber and she has eaten a bit of it straight away :) at least shes trying it, will start giving her some recovery in a bit , just wanted her to settle back down in her cage before I started, thanks for your support and everyone else that has commented.

No problem. :) I would love to see what she looks like now. At least she has had some cucumber. Great sign. My bunny is 2.7kg. Do you know how much she weighs?

No I dont hun they did weigh her but didnt say will post an updated pic for you soon, what breed is your Rabbit hun?
