I decided that I'm going to play dumb and say I couldnt find the hay and also I'm going to say that I moved them into the shed because of the weather and assume they would have done this when they got home anyway. I am going to just basically make some suggestions to them and they can either listen or not. I'm going to tell a small lie and say that I had to remove the pig several times as the rabbit appeared to be getting upset with it then will ask casually if they were aware it was dangerous to keep them together. I will follow that with something along the lines of 'if you dont want to have 2 hutches I know of a lady who would love the piggie as a friend for hers' then will take the pig to rescue. I'll casually throw on all the things that can be done to the hutch to make it warmer etc.
If they are really offended then so be it, I'm moving in march anyway :))

LOL!

Yes that sounds perfect, especially you 'noticing' there is a problem between them.

Good luck, when will you see them?

What a terrible situation, I would be worrying like mad as I suspect you are. I just do not understand why some people buy pets, it's disgusting and makes me so angry. Good luck hun in whatever you decide to do, you can only do your best, some people aren't willing to change but I hope your neighbours do listen to you.

Joy xx

Tis the season to be piggie ..

What a great thing you have identified the problem why not use the new neighbour theme as an ice breaker and take them a nice festive box around with goodies for the animals inside. You put some care leaflets in and tell them you are an active member ! of a rescue forum and always offer your forum package to new neighbours just to promote animal welfare as its a big interest of yours .......
They will think what a caring neighbour and you will have dished the advice in the nicest possible way.

Thats a good idea :)) Think I will get a few bits and bobs and tell them I had them spare from when I had piggies here x

They will be back on Sunday I believe. I'm just shocked beyond belief that they think they can just give them both a muesli mix and nothing else each day x

Hi PiggyPooh,
Hope you see this message soon. Tiger and Truffles send loads of love! They are still wildly in love themselves, nice and warm in the summerhouse with snugglepac under tons of hay! I've just been and bought them a new hay tunnel and grassy treats to cheer them up in this prolonged cold spell. Truffles was popping around the hutch and dashing through the old cardboard tunnel last night when we had our chat.

I hope you resolved the neighbour issue. I think you did right to say you couldn't find the hay and give some veggies as well. It has to be said that I would never keep piggy with rabbit, and try to tell anyone who did that why its not a good idea. However, our neightbour did that and the rabbit and piggy had been together for so long that when the rabbit suddenly died of a fit coming home from its routine vaccination in last years hot spell, the piggy died only a few weeks later pining for his friend.
So, at risk of being shot down, the first priority to my mind is advising a warmer, bigger hutch and proper diet for both animals (and a run). If they've lived together for ages, then that is probably the problem to be addressed last?
Sorry to hear Karah's diagnosis.
Best wishes for 2010 - hope its better than 2009.

Love from all of us
Jackie

Hi Jools,
I never saw this thread,i hope you and Karrah are well, its horrible,i wouldnt give them a chance to keep the pig and bun as they most probably dont care for them anyhow,I'm sure even the most silliest people know how cold it is where you are right now.
I would say both died becaue the temp went really low over night and take both to rescue/s.I hope it can be sorted before you move;)
