I live in an area of inner London where we get quite a lot of urban foxes. I live in a 2nd/3rd floor flat and my guinea pigs are indoors all the time so they're quite safe, and to be honest I enjoy watching these foxes when they come round. They seem to have no fear of humans. We had three last night and they were playing (fighting? mating? no idea!) for ages and making a huge racket!

My question, and maybe it's a silly one, is this. They make such a lot of noise I'm sure the piggies can hear them. Would they recognise that they're predators and be scared? I must say they don't seem to be the slightest bit concerned.

In my experience guinea pigs tend to adapt quite quickly to their local noises. If they hear it enough times and nothing happens they seem to just screen it out; our dog does some very 'grrr'-y playfighting in the living room and our pigs don't miss a beat in their chewing any more, and she's a daft animal fierce huntress literally acting out ripping apart prey right next to them. If they seem fine I'd be inclined to take that at face value :)
