I have recently acquired 2 Rex pigs who have seemed very healthy in the 3 months we've had them. One now has what I'm pretty sure is a bladder stone lodged in the urethral opening which is obviously causing discomfort and inability to urinate. I've manipulated it but the opening is too tight to allow it to come out. I've manipulated it so as to allow some urine to pass but my question is - will it be ok to wait til the morning to go to the vet (it's 8pm Sunday evening) if I repeat the manipulation or should I sound the alarm and get the emergency vet out?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

I would definitely get your piggy to a vet asap - inability to urinate due to a blockage causes retention which is extremely dangerous.
Keep us posted and sending gentle hugs to your piggy x>>

So, got the piggie's travel basket ready to zoom off to the vet, went to put her in only to find her nethers looking a bit sore but normal - no sign of the enormous stone that had been protruding. Rummage around in her bed and there it is, she'd pushed it out after all. Must have been worse than childbirth, it's the size of a large kidney bean. Much relief all round. Off to the vets for a a once-over tomorrow but crisis averted.
Thanks for the advice and the concern.

Great news that it has come out on its own! Phew - what a relief for you!
