Urgent Advice Needed Please

was halfway driving in and she passed :(
i pulled over as hadnt felt her move for ashile
Thank you for your advice though Rosie.
Its gona be a long drive home. She was such a sweet little thing.

I am so sorry she passed :soz:. You did everything you could do for her, even braving the long drive at a crazy hour.

And I am sorry if this sounds insensitive in any way, but did you make sure to call the vet again to say you were no longer coming in? I ask this because some clinics will still bill you for the emergency appointment if you don’t inform them and they were waiting on you, and in the current circumstances an emergency vet bill for an appointment you never even got to is the last thing you need while grieving.

I’m so sorry for your loss :bye: big hugs in this sad time

Yes I did call in to let them know, thanks for the concern and i didn't find the question insensitive. This vet is actually a walk in so there wouldn't have been issue in that respect but i had called ahead to let them know I was en route. They asked if I wanted to finish the drive in so their doctor could confirm it but I knew for sure she was dead, have lost enough animals in the past so even though i still hate it when they pass i am very familiar with it. She had no heart beat, wasnt breathing and she just looked empty, like a shell of the happy guinea pig we knew and loved :(
The photo attached was the last one i took off her at the vets before i brought her home that night. We used to call her toupee as she was long haired and resembled a wig. I took her in the first time at 2pm and didn't get home till 7pm so was a long horrible time period and i didnt end up getting back home and to bed till 5am. I also got flashed by a speed camera on the way out of the vets the first time. I didn't realize it was a 30km zone and I was doing 40km. There was no 30 sign between the vets and the camera. So was an expensive day as well but I would have spent more if it had meant saving her :(
Vets are very over priced in Canada. Our cats have had UTIs in the past before i switched them completely off hard food and discovered apple cider vinegar. It would often cost £400+ for that.
I don't know if guinea pigs suffer the same issue and if its safe for them but apple cider vinegar is amazing at treating uti issues in humans and cats.

I'm really sorry for your loss. It unfortunately sounds similar to what I went through when I lost elderly pigs (also 6 or 7.) No real diagnosis even though they did see a vet, just their time. :( ((HUGS)) and I'm so sorry.

Awww she was so beautiful. I’m so so sorry you had to loose her so soon and after such a monumental effort to try and save her. As @Freela said, sometimes it’s just their time to go. But that does not make it any less heartbreaking.
