Hi,

I am going on holiday on Saturday for a couple of weeks and one of my pigs seems to have had a re-occurance of a UTM. I am really at a loss what to do. My parents were going to look after my pigs whilst I am away but they wouldn't know how to care for a sick pig. Please can anyone recommend some who could care for her whilst I am away? :( I am based in the North East.

Thanks

When we lived in the UK our vet (or one of the nurses) would sometimes help out in a situation lie this, by boarding the animal at the practice or in their home.

Have you contacted your vet clinic? they often either have a nurse who is willing to take in a piggy or they may know somebody locally who has got the experience and willingness to care for your piggy.

I have e-mailed a local rescue. I am also going to ask a family friend to see if she'll pop round to give the meds - that's another problem as I guessing Vets a closed tomorrow? :-(

Best of luck! Good Friday is not going to help... :(

Just checked an they're open in the morning. Only trouble with this practise is they will only prescribe Baltril and it just seems to destroy my pigs guts - thinking of trying a different vets to get some Septrin.

Have you tried North East Guinea Pig Rescue? They are a bit slow in responding, but your best bet on the rescue side if one of the fosterers is have some spare space.

Yeah my partner e-mailed them -- ideally I want to keep her home as I don't want to stress her too much - 5 year old pig.
