Hey folks, I rarely put urgent in anything but I'm looking after my neighbours piggy and he was enjoying grass time. This is what I discovered.

His two front teeth have come forward, there is blood in his mouth and I can move his teeth.

I cannot get to the vets tonight or tomorrow, best is Saturday, I would do whatever I could but this isn't a great situation.

Thoughts?
Should I just pull his teeth out?
@Wiebke @helen105281 @furryfriends (TEAS)

My Jon did this and I was worried that he'd swallow them so I took him to the emergency vet to get them to help them come out. I didn't want to imagine the damage it could do if they ended up in his mouth or stomach.

He has to have banged his mouth on something. They are going to come out, for sure, but really he needs to see a vet, as if they have broken down near the gum, infection could get into the pulp cavity and cause an abscess.
The only thing he could have done was in the run. His teeth are quite long actually as he doesn't get huge amounts of hay poor thing, I literally sneak across and feed him extra hay. It's just so weird to have happened.

I am very sorry, but this needs to be seen asap. Poor boy, he's really done a job on it, hasn't he? :(
Have you got somebody else who could take him?
No I've got to get to bed really early as I'm on the road at 4am tomorrow to get to Colchester and I can' get out of it. However if I get back in the afternoon I could get him into Stafford possibly. I've just had that thought actually.

His hutch is in a bad way too, so I've taken a floor out and was getting it fixed this weekend, so he at least had 2 floors again and was able to enjoy his hutch better, with more toys and mountains of food. Poor wee thing.

Yeah, it's literally a few minutes job to get them out for you. I really wouldn't want to risk leaving them.

He's going to need help eating for a while too as he won't be able to pick up food.

All the best! Like furryfriends is saying, the danger is infection to the gum and not being able to eat.

Please don't take this wrong, but if I left my pets in someone's care and they didn't get veterinary treatment as soon as it was needed, I would be very annoyed.

I got up this morning with a plan in my mind of what I was going to do today, once I had finished my pet visits. First visit to two cats and one has very sore eyes that are discharging pus. That was the end of my plans for today, as I had to get an emergency vet appointment for her.

I know you are probably not being paid to look after him, but you agreed to provide care for him.

Thank you @furryfriends (TEAS) & @Wiebke You are both absolutely right of course, I'm not going to ignore any advice after all whats the point of me posting this. I've got an appointment so thankfully little Toffee has been added to my account and they've got me registered so there was no problem getting them to see me. Oh it's so refreshing to have a decent vet. The lady chuckled when she saw my account and said oh yes I can see you've got a few pets with us.

Thanks everyone, will let you know how I get on, probably not till tomorrow night at this rate when I get a minute xx

Make sure that he gets syringe feed and grated veg. All the best!

Unfortunately these things have a habit of happening at the most inconvenient time! :(

Let us know how he gets on matey. Sending vibes to the poor little guy

Aw poor little fella!
Good job for taking him to the vets ASAP!
I find Vets4Pets in Stafford have always been really good with all of our animals, especially with the piggy rescue we're there a lot haha! :)

Poor lil chap! They're daft at the best of times these pigs aren't they! One of our Sanctuary pigs Giz had lost two of his top teeth. He managed ok, and his teeth had grown back in just over a week! He scooped his food up really aptly with his bottom teeth and found eating hay easier from the floor. His veg was cut up very small and fine and he gobbled it up! The vet thought he was completely clumsy - which he was :'D

Omg yes, they're always great with our pets there too! They seem very knowledgeable about pigs :)

I go to my local Vets4Pets and they have been very good with my piggies. There is a vets just up the road from me about a mile away but I prefer to do a round trip of 15 miles to see a piggy savvy vet!

UPDATE

Thank you everyone, I sincerely appreciate all the kind thoughts.

So Toffee was seen by a vet, in which time, one of his teeth came loose and we found it in the carrier case. The other tooth was still attached but only by the soft tissue, he was weighted, coming in at 1.5kg. Not bad considering care, but I'm determined to get his weight up. He was given a spray anaesthetic to numb his mouth, and can you believe it whilst the vet went to get the other meds, he jumped into his carrying case, hid. We got him back out and he managed to knock the other tooth out!

He was given gut stimulant, metacam injection (metafloxin?) and metacam to follow on twice daily 0.5ml.

He's indoors in my 'acute' cage thingy. So he's resting up after a dramatic time.

I'm officially pooped, having been driving since 5am today and getting back at 8pm... checking on the little patient.

So I'll be around after I've slept for a while.

Nighty night x

Glad he's sorted Lil, hope his new teeth grow in fine and he doesn't have too much trouble :) Have a good rest!

Awww great to hear that he's seen a vet and they're out. You handled it very well- I would have freaked if I'd seen his teeth like that! I hope he recovers well and those teeth grow back fine and last longer then they did this time lol

Oh poor little guy! What a stressful time you've had. I hope you got a good rest, it's surely well deserved.
