Great news :) Please tell them about all the blood etc. Which vet did you get him booked into in the end? Edit - sorry just realised you said your normal vet :)

I've just read your all of this and I understand how hard it is to get to a vet there and then, my fudge had hay in his eye which I had carefully removed then run the discovery by my vet via the phone, I was just about to leave for work at the time and I was told to bring him straight in I really couldn't do that as much as I really wanted to, I was so worried as the vet said she needed to see him ASAP and that evening as he could loose his eye :( I had to take him first thing the following morning. My work would never let me mess up my hours over a guinea pig I too had no one else that would take him for me so wrong but not everyone sees guinea pigs the way we do. thankfully he is 100% fine now after having treatment.
Great to hear you have Darwin booked into the vets keep us posted on how he gets on :) it is worth finding a guinea pig savvy vet for the future because I nearly took my boys to a normal vet and the treatment was not what my piggy savvy vet suggested at all.

A lot better as I was feeling really guilty :( sometimes there isn't much more you can do! I'm glad fudge is okay :) I will let everyone no how he gets on tomorrow,

Took Darwin to vets and he is back on baytril to fix his foot the vet said it looks like an abscess caused by an injury or something, he's back on baytril for a week, then off it for a week (just incase upsets his tummy) then back on it again for a week if it hasn't heeled by then.. Darwin is okay I gave him his baytril and he's happily munching on some pepper now! :)
 
Ahh okay! I'll get some but it doesn't interfere with the medication does it? Don't want to overdose the poor pig!
 
No not at all, it is just a supplement. Humans take probiotics too if they have digestive issues or after antibiotics. Just make sure you give it t least an hour after the Baytril.

You can get Pro C, which is listed on the thread in Pets at Home.
