It all started about 3 hours ago i noticed she was quiet, then an hour later fluffing up and noticed no poos. Didnt seem bloated but gave her gut meds just incase.. Shes now quite lethargic, and shivering.

Were on our way for emergency appointment- anyone any ideas of things to suggest to vet? She doesnt feel bloated, hasnt lost weight, breathing clear and gums nice and pink, cant find any lainful points.

But shes literaly sitting still fluffed up and shivering in spasms. I feel sick!

Poor thing. No ideas but keep us posted.Everything crossed here

Gosh, as if you hadn't enough already. Sending you hugs and healing vibes to little Mallow x

Keep her warm, but not hot. Have her heart checked. Guts for GI stasis, too. Major pain could also be at the bottom of it. I am so sorry; it is everbody's nightmare! :(
Fingers very firmly crossed!

George had an episode like this a few months ago and we thought we were gonna loose him. Turned out he had arthritis and it had gotten so painful he had stopped eating. He has made a full recovery (but now on daily meds) and hope your piggy does too.

Were home, having a cuddle whilst my partner heats up the snugglesafe.

The vet diagnosed acute pain.. But at a loss as to the cause. She literally checked her from head to toe, chest, heart, guts, eyes, mouth, temp and even her reflexes.. Nothing. She then done a massive pile of 20 poos that fired out like bullets. The vet doesnt think shes gassy bloated but could have been a gut obstructionx that the zantac and metaclop i gave her have started unblock. Shes given her a buprenorphine injection, iv to continue with zantac, metaclop and syringe feeding. She says if we are right, mallow should be better by morning. If she is still painful, she will be having chest and abdo xrays tomorrow lunch time.

Wish us luck to a speedy recovery!

Ps what is with my luck lately.. My piggies are dropping left right n centre n I'm juggling all their issues in one go!

Big hugs! I hope that Mallow is better again by tomorrow. Please be aware that intense pain can cause partial or full gut stasis and that the digestion can be somewhat iffy in the immediate aftermath. It is always very worrying when you can't find out what is going wrong.

And really tough on you and your confidence when you have a cluster of major health issues. Hang on in there - there will be some good times eventually, too! :(

Fingers still firmly crossed!

The poos have stopped again for an hour or 2, and her tummys hardening. It looks like its bloat. Iv given gripe water, used an electric toothbrush against a blanket on her sides, and now shes in her carrier ontop of the machine on a spin cycle. Determined to get her through this, but for now she is just motionless although standing up, just doesnt move from the spot i place her and has literally 0% interest in food. Taking my time with syringe feeding. I cant believe this has happened, i know bloat can strike suddenly but I'm racking my brains trying to think if i missed any signs.. And feel so sh*tty about the fact i probably missed them due to being so busy with crunchie and fudge and left poppet and mallow to their own devices. Feeling like a rubbish mum!

Sending you loads of luck and no way are you a rubbish mum! Bad things happen to good people. that's just the way of the world. Hang on it there and your luck will turn. Think positive thoughts!

Don't feel like a rubbish mum, Adelle, you're far from that. You're great and your piggies are in the best hands. You are just going through a lot, and as you just said it just can strike from nowhere so even if you were completely focused on her you could just not notice it

Sending lots of healing vibes to Mallow x

Mallow is deteriorating, spasms have picked back up. I'm worried this is neurological- she now wont swallow so i cant feed or water her. Besides keeping her comfortable, i dont see what else can be done. The ooh vets have no piggy knowledge so they would be next to useless. 8am for our usual vets to open cant come quick enough. I'm terrified she isnt going to survive the night..

Currently in emergency vets, mallow is running a fatally high temp, there is infection but they dont know where. Having an abdominal scan as we speak. She is completely flat, twitching and has bulging eyes. I have agreed to try her until the morning which is 5 hours away. She is 18 months old and deserves a chance.

Mallows scan was clear other than a "abnormal" looking uterine stump from when she was spayed. She was given a baytril injection for the infection, as well as emeprid and zantac injections as she is so flat she is not able to swallow oral meds. She was also given 20ml fluid subcut. Her next injectable meds arent due until when my usual vet would be open- they offered to keep her till then and transfer her by ambulance but since there is nothing more they will be doing, i decided to bring her home to be with her best friend. I am praying she makes it to morning and her usual vet can do a work up. She lifted her head in the car and tried to shuffle nearer me, which is an improvement. She was subdued from the opiate given at the vet at 8pm, all her vitals where normal and there was nothing obviously wrong. Then boom.. She deteriorated so fast. To see such a young piggy so ill, truelly is heartbreaking. The vet warned me she may not survive, i am fully aware of this but seeing her muster up that little bit of strength is keeping me positive. She cant be syringe fed until she is more alert; and all the food from earlier is still in her stomach. She may be in gut stasis, but she is on the right meds for that. Please all pray she makes it through to see her usual vet.. 2hrs 30mins and we'll be at the door waiting!

Oh my, such a shock how quickly she has deteriorated keep us updated.

Everything crossed here. X
